Barista Prima Italian Roast Coffee, Keurig K-Cup Pods, Dark Roast, 96/Carton (66149)

These were for my husband and here is his review on the Barista Prima Coffeehouse Dark Roast Extra Bold K-Cups. YES!!! I finally found a k-cup that is bold on the largest brew setting AND reasonably priced. We had purchased a Keurig back in 2007 and have loved it ever since. Back then, there were only two brewing cup sizes: Small and Large. We always brewed on the large and while my favorite k-cup was Tully's Italian Roast, we often got Newman's Extra Bold because it was readily available at Sam's Club. BUT, it was not "extra" bold, maybe extra medium. In the last few years we started using a fill your own, reusable k-cups and would buy different bold roasts. Most were very good but the reusable k-cup thing is "kind of" a pain. Not terrible but certainly not as convenient as the disposable ones. Anyway, our trusty old Keurig finally bit the dust a few months ago and so I got one of the newer models. This one has three brew settings: Small, Medium and Large. But the Medium brew size on this new one was the size of the large on our old one. So the new Large added even more ounces to the cup which SOUNDS glorious BUT...what was bold once before, was now just "Meh". :( Some interesting notes regarding our new machine: While it was much more quiet than the old one, it didn't not handle the reusable cups well at all. It seemed to struggle to push the water through the cup. I suspect that part of the reason the new machines were more quiet (which was a welcome feature), was a reduction in motor size/power which is why it wasn't pushing through the coffee in our reusable cups. So, we went back to the disposable ones and my quest to find a bold cup on the large setting began. I tried many "Bold" and dark roast cups and was getting unsatisfying cups of coffee for my taste. And then I found these little gems. I can brew these on the large cup size and they are BOLD, BEAUTIFUL and DELICIOUS! At night, I sometimes smile when I think about that great cup of coffee waiting for me in the morning. If you like dark roasts and a good bold cup. I would highly recommend these!

My favorite K-cup coffee! So bold and delicious!

I have seen some comments regarding the received pods being beyond the expiration date. I have found that the date is not as significant compared to non K-cup coffee because each K-cup is packed in nitrogen and therefore does not oxidize and become stale like a can of coffee that starts going stale as soon as you open it and expose it to air. I have used K-cups that are over a year old that I have accumulated to avoid price increases and am still pleased with the quality of the brewed coffee they produce. The nitrogen gas packaged cups keep the grounds tasting fresh. Moreover, I do not use a Keurig machine! Rather, I slice open the K-cup and pour the grounds in an Aero-Press. Awesome coffee!

I've always thought that Keurig machines didn't make good coffee as every time I tried it the coffee was weak and without flavor. I bought a used Keurig very cheap with the intent of using it with the refillable kcup only. After doing some research online I read that the Barista Prima k-cups are good so I took a shot and ordered a case. I am extremely happy with my decision. This is by far the best kcup coffee I've ever had. I grind my beans and use a high quality drop coffee maker and these k-cups produce coffee that is on par with my regular coffee. If k-cups were half the price that they are I wouldn't bother grinding my own coffee anymore and would stick to these exclusively. Very strong, bold, full flavor coffee. If you have found other k-cups weak like I have give these a try; you will not be disappointed.

Excellent flavor, aroma !

I used to grind my beans fresh and then brew them. I was serious about my coffee. I had my Bunn coffee maker and I would grind and brew each morning, even got my husband addicted to coffee. Then he 'surprised' me with a Kerig coffee maker. I tried SO MANY different types of K-cups and hated each of them. I was just about ready to give up when I ran across this brand in my local grocery store. I finally found a coffee that would hold up to what I expected in a good cup of coffee. Then my grocery store stopped carrying them! I found them here on Amazon and was jumping up and down with glee. I ordered the 96 count and my husband laughed at me, said it would take me forever to use them all. I now order them every two weeks, seems like someone else in our home likes them as well! I am very pleased with this brand and flavor and if this ever goes out of the market, I will be going back to grinding my own beans. I have no plans on trying other brands and throwing away money. I highly recommend if you want a real cup of coffee but are forced to use K-cups!!!!

Superb Coffee!

This is our favourite morning coffee if using our Keurig. It tastes more like a medium roast, but is full flavoured.

Excellent coffee, rich, dark and extra bold. Can keep you awake throughout the day and night. Excellent "academic night cup" for academics na d intellectuals who burn the midnight oil to increase their research productivity. Professors, academics, intellectuals, students, and all brain workers will love this rich, dark, extra bold coffee drink.
