Turns off automatically
Yes, this thing is a pain in the butt. It turns off automatically requiring you to hold the on button for about 3 seconds on the top to turn it on. So unless people are consistently washing their hands, like every 5 minutes, it turns off and needs to be turned back on. To me this defeats the purpose if I need to touch the touch-less dispenser. The soap metering works fine between small, median, and lots, no complaints there. I got mine at Walmart for 10 bucks.

Great if you get one that works
The Stainless Steel Touch Free Soap Dispenser is not a product I'd recommend. The first one I ordered was DOA and was promptly replaced. The replacement is still working after several months. As a result of this success, I ordered another one. It would make some noise, but didn't dispense soap. It was also replaced. The replacement worked, but had an internal soap leak which not only made a mess, but caused it to fail. So, after 4 soap dispensers, have only one that still works. When it works, it is great.

Dispenses too much soap
I bought a Journey's Edge Motion Activated Soap dispenser that looks exactly like this one. It works, but it dispenses too much soap. The instructions are not clear:"The dispenser will eject for a preset time which can be set for three types. If you need more soap you can press the on/off button again."Say what? Also, it's too easily set off, so if you are washing something in the kitchen sink, it dispenses soap when you don't want it to.It has the potential to be a battery hog, as well as a soap hog. I paid $13 for it, and I think that is too much.******UPDATE******I've had this for about six weeks and my opinion of it has changed for the better. By repositioning it, I don't set it off by accident very often. I still don't know how long the batteries will last or how durable the device itself is. See my comments below.

The thing works terribly. Don't waste your money
I want my money back. Have another motion dispenser which I paid a lot more for. Thought this one was very reasonable. Was going to try one and then buy more. Forget that. If the sticky label and residue that took 30 minutes to get off wasn't enough. The thing works terribly. Don't waste your money. This was definitely made in China on an off day in the sweat shop!plus holding down the button to turn it on defeats the purpose of touch free!

Like many of the other reviewers
This product was SO frustrating! Like many of the other reviewers, I had problems getting the sensor to recognize my movements. I never managed to actually get soap out of the touchless dispenser without touching it! On top of that, when I went to retrieve my batteries (before throwing the dispenser away), the soap had somehow leaked into the compartment and corroded all four (rechargeable) batteries. Bummer... I had high hopes for this because I'm a chef and wash my hands so often.

We have been so pleased that I am actually ordering two more and may ...
I bought this dispenser about a month ago. We do gardening at home and for business, so washing hands is a frequent activity. I did have to adjust its position so that I did not "set it off". Have not had any problem with it turning off - our seems to stay on all the time. We have been so pleased that I am actually ordering two more and may come back to get some for Christmas presents.

Won't shut off
Difficult to set up and in my case, I can't get the thing to shut off once it begins dispensing. Can't send it back because of return policy requiring original packaging. I kept it, thinking I could eventually figure out how to make it work properly. Never could get it to work. It's going in the trash and I will chaulk it up as another expensive lesson learned.
