As I wanted to cover a large outdoor area at the bottom of my garden I chose a very large stencil so that the design was visible from a distance. The stencil was used as part of a big project with a lot of preparation beforehand to get the ground ready. I used black masonry paint as the base coat and white masonry paint for stencilling. As masonry paint is thicker than other paints and quite sticky it is necessary to take a lot of care when removing the stencil to avoid bleeding and splatters.After completing each stencil, I found it was better to lift the top two corners first and gradually fold them over to the bottom two corners lining up the stencil pattern in the corners and gradually lift the stencil so that the last piece touching was the centre. Before opening up the stencil again, carefully line up one corner to the exact spot you need it to be and gently unfold the stencil and lay it flat and don’t move it around otherwise the white paint will bleed. It is not the end of the world as you can go over any stray paint afterwards, but it will save time and is much more satisfying when it looks neat. I used different size stipple brushes depending on the size of the stencil gap - try not to use ones that have a bigger surface space than the gaps in the stencil otherwise you will get a lot of paint build up on the stencil and the lines will become less crisp. I managed to do all 25 stencilled tiles in one day and did not clean the stencil in between as I was worried that trying to clean off the masonry paint might damage or tear the stencil. The last few were slightly less crisp due to some paint build up but still came out well and you can’t tell which we’re the last few. I would definitely recommend this stencil brand. It also cones with an extra half stencil (shown in the first picture) but I decided only to use full squares in my design so I didn’t need to use it, but this is a nice addition compared with others where this is not provided.

Stencil arrived very well packaged and are well made with a clean cut and relatively robust joins- they hold up well for use and washing but you need to be careful. I’m pleased with the pattern. I chose it specifically to be able to use different colours relatively easily. I’m about a third of the way through stencilling my hall and am quite chuffed with how it is turning out. It is an enormous faff though. Very time consuming. Some of the negative comments had me worried before I ordered but now I understand how you could get quite grumpy stencilling. It looks like it should be fun. It’s not fun. It might be fun (definitely quicker) with one colour? For a good finish there’s A LOT of prep. For multiple colours there a lot of waiting for drying times. Using too much paint (use less than you think you need then half that and paint off most of that) leads to bleeding. I’ve had to do touch ups by hand on nearly every ‘tile’; it’s taken me to a third of the way through to stop loading my paint brush. I suffered you don’t have to :)Overall though a really good product that with careful handling gives a nice pattern. Pleased. I am never ever stencilling a floor again (she says) but if I was I would order from same people again.

I bought this product to stencil my patios, it is very good quality, quite sturdy but it has broken in 2 very small areas , I really hope I can repair it as I have another area to do but I am very pleased with the results. I have a tip which I found very helpful and that is to use repositional adhesive it is not to sticky but keeps the stencil in place.

Some of my friends think that I tiled my front door step, so easy to use with excellent results.

Really pleased with results and stencil is easy to use - you just need a bit of patience to start and would recommend buying a stencil brush and washing the stencil after each use to stop any paint traces as you go. Well worth the effort and you do get quicker !

i love the design & prompt delivery of this stencil - although cheaper available on market i thought id go for the middle of road cost. i am disappointed at quality of stencil - it is made of a very thin material which will ultimately lead to leaks in paint no matter how i stick it to paving - i believed i was buying a thicker stencil that was not floppy plastic - especially for the extra cost

Well, I have been busy, the template is good, bendable and lasting, the free half stencil template was really handy too! Just if you'd wondered, I used ordinary emulsion paint and sealed it over with clear varnish/polyurethane in a matt finish, it worked a treat! Stencilling is not a precision peace of art, you will have to stop chasing the perfection, a few touch ups and done!I'm happy with the overall effect..good luck with yours 😊
