I don’t usually leave reviews on products but I must say for this item I was quite impressed. I live in Southern California and was visiting family in Central Idaho and needed extra storage space and it was a last minute sort of thing so I ordered this item briefly looking at some reviews to get an idea of what I was buying. Most reviews said the item tended to rust rather quickly no big deal a couple of spray cans should solve the issue(I used rust oleum stops rust flat black with a matte clear coat). Upon arrival I noticed some damage on the rack there is 2 pictures that are dented again no big deal as I was able to bend them back into place. The rack was the perfect size no issues there. Now the final concern was I read a review or 2 saying the bag was not weather proof which is obviously a big concern I had and I had absolutely no issues and the bag held up PERFECTLY! Keep in mind I drove a total of 1600 miles give or take and endured very heavy rain over the span of 5 days and a snow storm as you can see in one of my pictures and my luggage and stroller were completely dry. All in all if you are looking for a decently priced roof rack to get the job done this rack is for you. The only negative is the rack and weatherproof bag did affect my MPG (obviously) but surprisingly only affected it by 3-5mpg give or take so all in all I am very satisfied with this rack and look forward to using it on many other trips.

We bought this for a trip through Tennessee. Most of the trip was rainy. The assembly did take a little longer than expected. But, it was pretty straightforward. The bag kept the luggage dry. However, the bag did take a little wear. I believe that is from me not packing solid items tight forward early in the trip. Overall, the family is very happy with the product. Only complaint we have is one of the spacers for the bracket which holds the basket to the crossbeam was lost on the trip. I would suggest gluing and/or taping the spacer to the bracket and checking the bracket tightness between trip legs. Us not checking the tightness was our fault. The shifting load through mountain turns was probably the issue. The basket still held strong without issue. This is a well built basket and bag which was well worth the money. We did not use the net or lock on this trip.

As I write this review the rack has been assembled and currently installing the roof rails that directly mount to the vehicle. The rack that upon delivery contained the entirety of it's listed invoice. The tubing of rack did have a scratch and bendt at the connection end. it was repaired with a handle of my rachet to remold the opening. This was due to mishandling during shipping. The unit itself is glossy black, with deep 6 inch side railing which makes it look substantial and utilitarian. It is large but not heavy. the hardware is simple. While this may be a one time purchase I would recommend this product and with proper use be a good accessory for my vehicle that will come in handy for someone that travels a few times a year.

We've been using this roof rack for 4 years now and are very impressed with it! We pack a lot into it and, with the bag, net and straps that come included, nothing ever shifts or comes out. The coating on the rack is very durable; we're at and on the beach (ocean) every time we use it, and even in those conditions there hasn't been any rusting. The center section can be easily installed or removed for more or less length of the rack, which is also a great feature! The bag is also holding up very well. It has strap loops for attaching the ratchet straps, and a zippered and Velcro closure making for a weather resistant enclosure. We often get a good thunderstorm while using the bag and everything stays dry! Since the size of the rack can be adjusted and the straps and cargo net are adjustable, there is a lot of flexibility for what you can carry. I'd definitely recommend this rack and would buy it again.

The write up claims to be metal with rust protection coating. As you can see from the pictures, that is not true. We received the carrier about 45 DAYS ago, and this it is already rusting. The rust protection coating is flaking off, and all the welded joints are rusting. We have had minimal rain (I live in Southern California) so this rust must be from the morning dew, so I can only imagine what would happen in a rainy area of the US. When we received the unit, one of the metal arms was slightly bent, so putting the unit together was nearly impossible, but that was my bad for not returning it because we needed to use it the day after we received it. We are unable to use the extension pieces because of the bent arm as I will never be able to get this apart to add in that extension... but with the size of my SUV, I didn't worry about it because it would have been too big. All in all, I was ok with the bent arm and not being able to use the extension because it would be too big for my SUV... but now I am angry that the unit is rusting and the powder coating rust protection is flaking off.

Purchased this to use on our 2019 Honda Pilot for a trip to the mountains. Putting together was pretty simple. I watched a couple YT videos and decided to spray the connecting pieces with a rust resistant spray paint in an effort to preserve. After assembly i "secured" the basket to the roof racks as instructed and loaded it to capacity. Less than 30 minutes into our 12 hr drive the basket FULL of luggage is sliding from one side of the vehicle to the other!! I realized at that point there was nothing for the basket to GRIP because the mounting assembly is 4 plastic risers and some U bolts. Fast-forward to arrival at our destination and at lot of time to think about what i was going to do and my only resolve (700 miles from home w/o power tools) was to use duct tape as a gripping agent WHICH WORKED PERFECTLY!!! Nevertheless, the basket stayed on the rooftop with zero movement during our return trip and remained on the SUV for a little over a week total and had the pictured rust when i removed it. As far as the mounting brackets, the only way i can see fixing the sliding issue would be to drill through the bracket and the roof rack and make it a permanent. The weatherproof bag is nice but it does limit you on the amount of suitcases you can put in and zip it closed. The bungie net works EXCELLENT!! Rack gives the Pilot a smooth rugged look.

Good product. Needed replacement U-Bolts and customer service responded promptly and quickly helped.

Update: customer service reached out and addressed my issues. Above and beyond customer service. Thank you Mockins! Great price and great accessories however the quality is just not there. I use it to hold our stroller so we can free up some space in our RAV4 for trips to/from the beach. It works great but I only used it a couple of times and it is already showing signs of wear and rust is everywhere. Also, while Loading and unloading you have to be extremely careful as this basket has many sharp edges.

We bought the product to carry our second set of tires across Canada (moved from Toronto to Vancouver). Here is what I can tell you about our experience: - Absolutely ZERO installation instructions (but we used our brains to figure it out) - It fit both all 4 tires, stacked 2 on top of each other, and kitty corner (SUV tires). The basket is in "extended" mode in this picture - Also had room to put our gas can on top (can't see in photo because it's on the other side) - We did not use the cargo bag as it's not very big (barely fit 2 tires) - It held VERY well; BUT we were careful to ensure the cross bars were centered under the wheels to ensure the load was properly distributed, and we used strong Thule crossbars as I am pretty sure we were pushing or over the verified weight limit. We also ensured the four basket "feet" that connect the basket to the cross bars was as close to the car's side rails as possible to properly distribute the load away from the centre to ensure the cross bars didn't bend in the middle. We also used 3 straps (not the ones provided in the package, but our own straps) to let the tires down, and we wrapped those straps around the car side rails, not the Thule cross bars or the basket itself. - We would HIGHLY suggest buying a rust proofing spray before use. After the 4 day, 4300km drive in late December, a few if the screws has already developed rust - After use, I took it off, washed it, and used a microfiber towels to dry it in order to prevent rust - The feet mechanism that hold the basket to the cross bars are pretty crappy... You get what you pay for here. The crappy feet mechanism would make this basket EXTREMELY annoying to take on and off repeatedly - The frame itself is strong enough and the welds look solid Overall, for what we need it for, it did an amazing job. Installation was a pain but we made it work. The cargo bag looks solid and I'm sure we'll use it in the future for camping, etc. I have it 4 stars because of the assembly and the feet mechanism. But it got 5 stars for me on value. Hope this was helpful for other shoppers!

Arrived with the cheap film/top coat already peeling off in places and already rusted underneath. A month later and the film continues to flake off and expose rust. Also arrived with one piece bent that I needed to use some tools to straighten so it could be assembled. Other than that, it does its job.

Really excited to get this as were gearing up for a long road trip. It seems sturdy and fit great. Unfortunately it was rusted in several spots and the paint wad chipping everywhere when we opened it out of the box. Also the hardware was really cheap and basically fell apart after removing it for fit and putting it back in the box. Glad we never used it as it's clearly poorly and cheaply made.
