This NAS SSD can be used in the place of a regular SSD. I use these NAS SSD as boot drives in automation computers that run 24/7. Work flawlessly. **Q: Is it compatible with the synology ds-720+ nas as cache memory?** A: Yes, but speed is limited. This model is M.2 SATA, not NVMe. Cannot operate through onboard NVMe slots. Need SATA adaptor and install through conventional HDD slots with a maximum of 6 Gb/s speed. Likely only capable to work as read-only cache. **Q: Is it slc, mlc, tlc, or qlc? they are advertising it as a "nas ssd," it should be at least be mlc for that form of performance?** A: THE WD red SSD series is TLC.
