I would not let the portal or track get wet due to the electronics, but if the car gets wet it should be fine. There’s a YouTube video of a person submerging their iD cars in a bowl of water and they still worked just the same after that. The reason for this is because there isn’t any electricity in the car itself, it’s merely a tag that contains some numbers that can be read by an electronic device such as the portal of a phone with an NFC reader.
