Takes pigment and makes it POP
Heard about this paper online viewing some painting tutorials by Mark Mahaffey and he was using this plastic paper i had never heard of. The demonstration and tutorial peeked my interest and so i had to give it a try. Once it arrived i was somewhat skeptical as to how it would work for my art, but gave it a shot. So i painted up a simple abstract using simple inks and ink pens. Once the inks dried i was hard pressed to find that any of the colors had faded or dulled down, as what i'm use to happening on Archers cotton paper hotpress, and other brands, the colors stayed vivid and bright like they were still wet, but completely dry to the touch! So far i am loving this paper, this i found a favorite painting paper, my only question is how do the paint layers and ink layers hold up over time, since you are painting on plastic. Do they flake or rub off?? Any more so than on watercolor paper, or do they hold the dry paint and inks without worry.I am curious to try the translucent Yupo paper, and see what marvels i can create with that. I also want to try some Sumi style ink paintings to see how those work, Could be fun!!! I look forward to doing more with this paper, from what i can tell it holds graphite pencil really well too, so gonna have to pull out the drawing pencils also. So much to try, not enough time in a day....Also posting a photo of my first experimental piece here too so you can see the effects.

This Yupo paper is quite different to do watercolors on and if you are a watercolorist you should really try it and see the amaz
One day I came across a video on YouTube of a guy doing a watercolor painting using Yupo paper and I thought it looked incredible and decided I had to try it so I immediately came to Amazon and searched for Yupo paper and bought this Yupo Paper Pad- 11"x14" 10 sheets. This paper is incredible and I have done about 6 watercolor paintings with it and am simply stunned at how gorgeous the pigment looks on it.This Yupo paper is quite different to do watercolors on and if you are a watercolorist you should really try it and see the amazing results. To get some ideas on how to use it with watercolors go search YouTube for watercolors on Yupo and you can see some amazing artwork tutorials.I always love finding new ways to use my watercolors even though I have been a professional watercolorist for 30+ years and this has got to be one of my favorite alternatives.Highly recommended 5++

If you are one that needs to pencil image before ...
If you are one that needs to pencil image before painting, DO NOT USE AN ERASER, changes the chemical makeup of the paper and the paint beads up where the eraser is used...bah, humbug!

Excellent stuff - nothing like paper!
I am still learning all the things I can do with Yupo. I use it primarily with Alcohol inks, although I've also used it to draw on. It takes matte spray finish just fine - and this works well to mask off areas I don't want the ink to flow into. Don't expect Yupo to act anything like paper - but that's the beauty of it - you can create effects not possible with anything else.

Bad batch?
I have used a lot of yupo paper with my alcohol inks. I'm not sure why, but they are clumping on my recent order of this paper and just acting weird in general. I ordered before and it was great, not sure if it was a bad batch or something?

Overcomes Artist Block
Bought a pad of Yupo in each size to try something different to stimulate painting. Spent a lot of time working with watercolors to create a couple of paintings worth keeping. You won't hesitate to put a brush on your paper, Yupo is forgiving, easy to fix mistakes or experiment, and completely do-over. These pads of Yupo are fine but the artist needs practice. Next time I experience artist block will try acrylics on Yupo. It's different but has stimulated my painting.

I did it on YUPO!
I love this stuff. I do alcohol ink paintings on it and it's magic. I hear people also do watercolor painting on it. It's much more forgiving than paper. If you mess up, you just wipe it off (with alcohol if you're using alcohol ink or with water if you're using watercolor paint) and it goes away. You can recreate your whites by removing the color. It's polypropylene!!! And we thought that stuff was just for carpets. Who knew? I am buying it by the boatload now.

The paper of choice for the Alcohol ink artist
Yupo is the "go to" paper for the alcohol ink artist. I've tried other types of paper and even photo grade paper...this produces great results and fun to work with.
