Great instruction book.
Great step by step instructions for the Rubik’s cube algorithms.

What this product info doesn't tell you
It shows the start of the book's introduction - "you may have this, you may have that" - but it doesn't show that at the end of the introduction it clearly says that in order to use this book the reader is expected to understand how to solve the puzzle and actually been through that previous book, no ifs ands buts or "mays." I'm now preparing to buy another book for my daughter so that she can actually get something out of this one. The only reason I'm giving this 3 stars is because while I don't really want to affect it's current star rating (which is 4) since we've not had a chance to actually absorb and put to use its content, I also want people to notice this review so that they don't make the same mistake I made.

This book is not in color. Making the first 31 pages virtually useless
This hard copy Edition is all in black and white. The first sections of the book, as a consequence, are virtually indecipherable. Had the book been in color, I might have might been able to figure out what the author is trying to communicate. I already have my worked out my own intuitive method for solving the first two layers without memorizing algorithms. Even knowing that first, I couldn't make sense of the method the author is suggesting.Starting with chapter 4, you can make sense of the book, because the author provides diagrams and movement formulas in notation that should be familiar to most cubers. However just about everything that he outlines I already knew, albeit, with different cube orientations than the author suggests for the algorithms I learned.… With one exception! I do find his method for permutating the last layer on page 44 useful. I usually permute the corners before I get all yellow on the top. But this is a nice way to get the corners in the right places without losing all yellow on the top. I memorized that routine and added it to my inventory of algorithms. So, the money I spent for this wasn't a total loss.

Photos are not Color.
Illustrations are not color. Too hard to follow instructions when it references a grey-scale photo. Would not recommend for "Kids" or adults.

Useless...black and white pictures
You can't follow this book with the black and white pictures. All the instructions refer to the various colors of the rubix cube, but only the white squares are legible from the diagrams. We gave up with this book and used YouTube videos instead.

Naja...

Good book for people who are familiar with solving cube and go into the speed cubing realm.

Simple instructions for SPEEDSOLVING
This book is quite easy to follow, and provides the CFOP method, which seems to be a recognised way of speed solving the cube.

Very difficult to follow
Two big complaints about this book. One is that it is printed in black and white, which does not help when the colours in the picture are being referred to.Second is that it is not clearly explained or straightforward to follow. I am 35 and can solve the cube in 50 seconds. My daughter is 11 and can solve it even faster. Neither of us could follow what the writer was trying to say. He does not have the gift of clarity!Avoid.
