Updated: An inexpensive boot that unfortunately isn't too durable
7 Month update (January 2022):I've reduced my original rating from 5 stars to 2. My original review is at the bottom.Like I said in my original review, these boots (or boots that are very similar) are sold under various names. I've bought a few pairs at one of the big blue store that begins with a W. They usually last about a year when worn daily and not subjected to heavy use (IE not in a shop environment). They're light, comfortable, easy to put on, break in easily, and are waterproof enough for rain or snow-- just don't try to submerge them and you'll be fine. This pair started off great. They were less expensive than any of the other brands, fit just as well, and were just as comfortable. At the 5 month mark they still looked fine. I had polished them a couple of times and they still looked almost new.Within a 1 month period, the soles started separating from the uppers, the uppers themselves started peeling, and the right sole developed a crack in it by the ball of my foot. All of a sudden my foot started getting wet when I stepped in a puddle. Moisture was wicking up through the crack into the insole. I don't know if it's ever happened to you but it is damned annoying, especially in winter.I mostly wear them to work in an office, with occasional trips down to the shop floor. I have a desk job so I don't do any grinding, welding, walking on abrasive surfaces, etc. I do a fair amount of walking on smooth concrete and rugs. I have a separate pair of boots for hiking so these don't go into the woods. Pretty much everything that I do in these boots could also be done in a pair of dress shoes. I just happen to hate dress shoes, so I wear boots. These things have led a pretty easy life. The soles show little wear and the treads still have plenty of life. Nevertheless, they feel like they're going to fall off my feet any day now. They're not long for this world. This is a $40 pair of boots, and at that price point they're a 1-year throwaway. Nothing wrong with that-- they have a lot of things going for them, and I'm OK with paying $40 a year to get a new pair, then keeping the old pair around for yard work for another couple of months. But they lasted 6 months with light use and they're practically falling apart. If I hadn't already owned several pairs that lasted a year (and beyond) I'd say it's the nature of the beast, but I know better. The quality seems to have worsened in the last couple of years.Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend these as an inexpensive, comfortable boot for light to moderate use. That bothers me because I have some other products sold by LA Police Gear and they've been solid (their Jumbo Bail Out Bag is THE best carry-on travel briefcase ever, in my opinion).I think I'm finally ready to do what I've been avoiding-- spending $200+ on a well-built pair of logger boots that will last me a few years. They won't be as light or as comfortable, but they'll last a lot longer.Original review (June 2021):Several manufacturers offer an 8" side-zip duty boot like this. I have owned a few different pairs from different brands. Regardless of the manufacturer, they've had mostly the same features:-Easy on-off (side zip, remember?)-Quick break-in-Pretty comfortable to wear all day, even while breaking them in-Fairly water resistant. You can't cross a running stream, but you can walk through some pretty deep puddles and keep your feet dry.-Inexpensive ($40-$60 per pair)-Fairly durable-- I get about a year out of them with daily use.I work in a production facility. I typically need more foot protection and better traction than I can get from a dress shoe, but less protection (and less weight) than my built-like-a-tank Timberland Pros. I also need a boot that I can scuff or scratch without worrying about the price tag. I'm not overly fond of the "tactical" appearance, but these are work boots after all.I typically get a year's worth of use out of them before the upper starts to rip away from the rubber sole. They almost always blow out right around the toe seam, signaling that it's time to buy another pair. The only ones that haven't made it to the year mark are, ironically, the more expensive Bates version that I bought from one of the big box stores. I thought I'd get slightly better quality from Bates. Sadly, mine split at the toe seam after 4 months. It was probably an isolated incident, but I probably won't try another Bates boot for a while-- or at all.I held off on buying another pair after the Bates, but those Timberland Pros were getting a bit heavy on my feet. I bought a bag from LA Police Gear before and had good results, and these boots were some of the least expensive side-zips available, so I decided to give them a try.Well, they're like every other side-zip duty boot I've ever had-- pretty good. They're comfortable, they're breaking in nicely, and they're easy to slip on and off. I'm tempted to think they're a bit better built than some of the others but I can't say for sure. There's nothing that sets them apart EXCEPT the price. At $40 a pair, they're the least expensive side-zip duty boots I've bought, and they appear to be just as good (and perhaps a bit better).I'm still breaking these in, but if they make it to the 1-year mark, I'll consider them the best of this type of boot that I've tried so far.

Durable and comfortable!
These boots are comfortable, and so very very durable. The soles are very squeaky depending on what type of floor you’re walking on. Not as issue on pavement, grass or dirt, but in the office they’re loud and obnoxious.

Not adequate for bartending
I work in a damp environment, and in less than a year these boots have fallen apart. Front soles at the toe are peeling back, there are holes on both boots behind the toe on either side where my foot bends, and the zippers are hanging on for dear life. Don't buy these as anything other than fashion boots, they do not hold up as work shoes

The boots are so far durable, I will see how long it will last.
For now I am using the boots everyday, to make it fit properly I had to buy number 12 usually I wear number 10.5 or a 11 but all are to tide except bigger size. Most boots won’t last poor quality. I will see with this one’s.
