NOT A BW-DISAPPOINTING
First and foremost this author clearly doesn’t know how to describe a black woman. The only thing she said about this woman’s description is that she’s a brunette, with wavy hair, and is fat. Black women come in all shapes, complexions, sizes, and hair texture. If she was going to compare the difference between Josephine and Camille she should have said “my best friend is blond hair, skinny, blue eyes, and white” but “I have thick chocolate brown curly hair, brown eyes, pear shape, with skin the color of caramel, and I’m black.Unfortunately, the book wasn’t descriptive at all. Very disappointed. Also, the female lead had 0 confidence not even a little.

Refund Please?
There is zero character building. It was like the author wanted to put as many plot points as possible in the story without developing any of them. The H was just blah and the h had zero self esteem, not low, zero. I just wanted to smack her over and over. But then after a time span of a couple of weeks we've barely had any non-sexual interactions between them but they're in love. Please note that in this author's world werewolves don't instantly recognize their true mates.

Just a Heads Up
I thought I was purchasing a story with a rather regular romance theme. I was surprised when I got to the sexy times. I’m not against these kind of scenes, just as one unfamiliar with the author’s work and no hints given in the description I was blindsided. I was in the mood for romance over steam level. So please be aware. That said, the two star rating does not have to deal with the brand of sexy times the book contains, but rather the lack of chemistry and a storyline that felt rushed and seemingly random extra plots. The backstory for the heroine needed to be developed more in order to sympathize. Also the relationship between the heroine and the woman she was risking her life for. Just being a vaguely described college “friend”? Where’s the motivation? This could be supported by why the heroine felt the need to go to such lengths to help. (More backstory.)The hero was barely present in the book at all. Not in page time, but rather who he is, his thought processes, etc. His actions only seemed centered on controlling the heroine in and outside the bedroom, so his actions only showed that and nothing else. Just because a guy is “hot” doesn’t make for good chemistry or make you want to root for the h & h to end up together.Perhaps this would have been better as a first person story with switching points of view.May be a spoiler… If an alpha is abusing the women of his pack/holding them hostage/etc. He is not going to allow them unsupervised contact with the outside world. Particularly if the said person is going to be an integral part of a pack alliance deal, say as a reluctant bride. The friend’s conversations (via phone or in person) would have been restricted and monitored. If they left the compound they would be monitored at all times and kept close. (We’re talking tinkle with an escort close.)With superior shifter hearing, etc. any plotting would have been overheard and thwarted right away. So my mind was left wondering the hows instead of suspending disbelief and merging into the story as with other “instalove” romances.

Very fun read.
Wolf shifter Josephine Southpaw isn't going to let her friend from college walk down the isle with an Alpha arranged marriage. Josephine has a magic charm hiding her identity and plans to walk down the isle with Alpha Maxwell Battle and then when they get to the honeymoon portion say TA DA, you jerk and get an annulment.Maxwell knows Josephine is not his bride to be and he is elated. He wants the curvy woman with attitude and plans to make her his. There is danger heading his way though as a threat to Josephine is close by but Maxwell is not going to let anyone get close enough to hurt her.Very fun read. I have been looking forward to this one for awhile. Maxwell is pure alpha and I liked the whole concept of the pack.

surprising alpha
This starts out with a rather interesting situation. Josephine, a bbw wolf is standing in for her friend as bride to an alpha of the Timber Lake pack. She pulls off the switch by getting a charm that has the magical ability to make her look like her friend who is tall and slender with long blonde hair. She thinks her friend is beautiful and deserves to marry the man she loves not the one her brutal uncle picked. There have been many rumors stating that the man she's to marry is almost as bad. Josephine isn't aware of how bad it has been for her friend so when the uncle comes in before the wedding and tells her she has to change out of the wedding gown and into the revealing dress he picked out she mouths off to him and he turns mean, hurting her and ripping her gown (which is really a sundress under the magic). Her soon to be husband rescues her and offers to fight the uncle, who is a typical bully and backs down from him. The marriage takes place and all the while Josephine is thinking she needs to tell Max that she isn't who he thinks she is. Oddly, he doesn't seem to care that she isn't who she is portraying and says he wants his honeymoon and if she wants her friend to get away they should continue the sham wedding to protect her from her uncle. She runs away, he catches her, she agrees to go back for her friend's sake and OMG, the sex is beyond steaming. Hope you like it hot because it is! At first I wasn't happy with the way he treats Josephine and she doesn't object because she seems to have low self esteem, but if you bear with it, it gets SO much better. And did I mention Max is a stud muffin? This was well worth reading, I will be looking for more of this series!

Yummy read !!!
To be honest I read this book because I had just read another book from the same series but had not been in love with it. The synopsis really convinced me to give this book a try and I really have to say Ms St Clair you have redeemed yourself with this book.I thought a considerate effort had been made in character and plot development. The genuine emotion really could be felt and picked up that as a reader I felt engaged and was genuinely interested in the destiny of these two love birds. The heroine really portrayed some believable attributes that really had me rooting for both characters. And oh my was the romance steamy or what !!! These two were an awesome pair

Loved it!!!!
Anyone who enjoys shifter tales and wants an actual story give this a try. While I enjoy a steamy sex scene as much as many do, this book has them but not page after page with just a very small percentage left for a storyline of sorts. The characters are well developed and the story interesting and fast paced. I read it in one sitting and am about to get more in this series. My only complaint is that the book is just too short.

Pretty cool stuff.
Modern shifter tale, slightly different slant, with lots of twists, action, magic, romance and sex.Plenty of sexy alphas, a heroine with a feisty attitude, lots of male dominance and some b.d.s.m. play.I enjoyed this book, it was unique, fresh and the author was able to keep my attention, her books are definitely worth a look at.

3 stars As was a bit rushed
This is the second book I've read by this author and again the idea behind the story is quite good. Though for the money it's quite a short story. This would get 4 stars if was longer and not so rushed in the storyline and 5 stars for a little more character spin offs i.e the sheriff's stir could be explained a little more or the brothers more involved.

A howling sex-secessful story.
Great storyline. First time read of this type of story. Really enjoyed it. Wasn't bored at once. Will read another by this author. Like the fact the main female character is not some perfect woman. One of the main things for me also, is that the story wasn't too long, so at the end I can still remember all the story and characters.
