I added Chile flakes, oregano garlic and garlic powder. Did have olive oil, not soy or vegetable oil. However the shipping cost is not coveted by my Amazon Prime subscription. This makes it more expensive than I can afford. Purchasing it will be a special treat and /or for holidays only. Great texture, and quality. The taste is okay, bland for me, but I spiced it up.

I've eated many jarred (marinated) eggplant and absolutely love them simply with crunchy bread or by itself. They are usually thinly sliced into strips, or small rounds and marinated with oil, vinegar, garlic & some herbs, but these were a bit different than what I'm used to. The slices were thick sliced and packed in oil mostly. More of an "eggplant steak". I liked the mild flavor but texture was a little dry. Not sure if this is due to the type of oil used. I'd buy again but only with free shipping. Not sure why they decided to charge for shipping now, but it's not worth the increase in price.
