I used the clippers on my daughter’s 90lbs PitBull who hates his nails trimmed. The clippers are surprisingly easy to use, the cut is clean and precise, and you don't need tremendous pressure to cut straight through. I was afraid of hitting the dreaded quick and making my little guy bleed, but a quick check on Google for nail cutting tips (and simple but excellent instructions on the packaging of these clippers) made that a non-problem too. Just look at the underside of the dog's nail. Even on blackest nails, you can see the pinker or lighter part of the nail, which is the quick. Place the clippers a bit above that (in the direction away from the foot pad) and you're fine. My first time clipping Stanley nails was a cinch. And believe me, this dog has feet the size of saucers and nails to match. Thick as pinky fingers. I waited until Stanley was sleeping (he has never been a dog with lightening like reflexes...even as a youngster, people meeting him for the first time always thought he was dead, took a paw, checked to see where the "quick" ended and 'snip' -- that fast, that simple. About halfway through the pedicure he woke up, but not sensing any food in the immediate area, dozed back off again so I could complete the job. My niece has a little poodle who is also pushing the envelope in terms of age. However, her dog doesn't have my Stanley's sweet disposition and is on the No Fly List at most of the groomers in town. She asked me if I'd do the dog's nails for her. I guess she figured I'm older and have less to live for. Anyway, we got a big pile of treats ready. My niece kept tossing them into the dog's mouth, distracting her, while I went to work on the nails. This is the same trick my manicurist uses with me and it worked equally well with the dog. If you've been considering trimming your dog's nails yourself, these are a very good tool. Dogs'nails grow very quickly; they need frequent trimming. The nails are connected to the leg bones and when they get too long, can jar the animal and make walking uncomfortable--particular in dogs with hip problems and/or arthritis and other joint issues. These affordable clippers cost about what a single nail clipping does at the groomers, so it's money well spent.

Works pretty good. Packaging states for small dogs and the picture attached is to give an idea of size. Even though nail trimmer is on the smaller side it is still easy to use. Have to be very careful with the attached guard because you could still cut too much nail off (potentially hitting the quick) on a smaller dog. Overall satisfied.

I had some other clippers, but they were upsetting my dog even though I wasn't near the quick. These are much better. They are sharper, cut smoother, my dog is fine with them.

This trimmer works and the owner has the peace of mind that no blood will be forthcoming! However, if your hand is too close to the cutter, it can be pinched in the action of the trimmer...thus possibly drawing YOUR blood!

these things are great! im a very weak gal so i always struggled with pressing hard enough to clip my pups nails. these are a game changer! they require very little pressure to clip and youre able to use only 1 hand which is just what i needed. my little girl acts like a crazy squirrel 24/7 so trimming her nails is a challenge. these have made it so easy! i clip a few when shes asleep or distracted and it takes only a couple of seconds. she has dew claws in the back and these are perfect for those aswell because of the clippers' opening. super happy with these theyre perfect for smaller dogs :)

These are PERFECT! This smaller clipper was so easy to use & actually clip all four paws without any movement from my little Frenchie. Her nails had grown & curled because I didn't have the correct clippers. The one's I had were all too big & clunky for her black nails. I wasn't able to get her back paws done as she continued to squirm & make things difficult for me. This clipper was quick, clean cutting & no pressure on her toenails. Now it will be Easy for me to keep her nails short & healthy. We are BOTH happy now!

We previously had a guillotine style nail clipper which was harder to use. These blades are sharp and cut cleanly through the nail. The little stopper is not foolproof but very helpful to prevent cutting the quick. The item feels sturdy and like it will last (this review written after >6 mo of ownership, so far so good). Happy with this purchase.

I wouldn’t normally review nail clippers, but this one is special. I have a miniature poodle who is now one. Since she was a puppy, she would show she was uncomfortable and didn’t love having her nails cut. I wondered if it was the clippers and so decided to give these ago. Honestly, it’s a whole different experience. The clippers seem sharper and so glide through the nail like butter. I can take little bits off at a time, and go slow enough so I avoid making a click sound when I cut through her nail. She no longer pulls her paw away, and has started to sleep while I do her nails. This obviously makes me think the old clippers were hurting her by perhaps putting pressure on her nail. These ones are much better in that sense. And from my own perspective, the handles feel nice and grippy. They feel sturdy to use. I like that it has a lock mechanism for safety, and do the job really well. If you’re looking for a good set of clippers for a small dog, go for these!
