It Really Works!!
I searched, it seems, forever to find a solution for our 3yo 70 lb. Lab to get up on our very high bed without continually lifting her and straining our (well, mine!) backs. I chose this one because of the positive reviews, gradual and sturdy incline, flat platform at the top and affordability. My husband put it together with ease in less than an hour...it is heavy, so I knew that I wouldn't be moving it around. We put this on one side of the bed, leaving about a 12" space to the wall which made it less scary for her without a railing. I stood in that space to train so she would come up to me while being reassured but staying very close to her either petting her, tapping the ramp with treats on it to coax her before moving a little further so she'd do it on her own. Our girl was skeptical, for sure, at first but with a calming voice, lots of praise and either chicken or beef to coax and reward her (she gets that anyway), she made progressive baby steps as she tested it. It took only a few days! I let her go as far as she was comfortable each time and didn't force her. Just praise and treats! Then repeat same thing several hours later. For the next couple of days, I still had to use some treats but less of them as she went up the ramp on her own a little further each time. Then, total SUCCESS!! And, tons of praise when she was on the bed! She doesn't even go all the way to the flat platform at the top of the ramp...just far enough where she can climb up onto the bed with ease. It hasn't been long and she goes up this (and sometimes down it if she doesn't jump off the bed) all by herself without either of us even being in the room many times a day. The width is good although I feel like it could be maybe several inches wider, but it's working. I think the proximity to the wall aids in sort of a visual railing. I read about "slippery carpet" and can see why some feel that it is an issue. So far, our girl isn't experiencing that but I think, in time, it could be something that we may have to address. It is rather thin. I didn't want to add/introduce something different to it at this point when it's working as is. And, maybe it won't be an issue. If it becomes one, we can easily remedy it and it wasn't a deal breaker. We keep her nails trimmed once a month so I think that will help that she won't snag it or tear it in anyway. We are both very happy with this product and I just figured that the initial cost is well worth it if it protects her from any injuries and us as well. She is a happy pup and loves snoozing on our bed with a big window for her to look out while she's on it. I wasn't happy about having a ramp in our room, but where it is located, it is unobtrusive and I can easily slide it over on our wood floors (it could easily be moved on carpet/rug as well) to either make the bed or change sheets. I looked heavily into a folding ramp, but decided that that, too, would be heavy and cumbersome defeating the purpose of straining our back. Love this so far and highly recommend!

Excellent ramp! But buyer bewareโฆ
First of all, this ramp is excellent quality! The problem is the product/condition that Amazon sent this ramp to me. The ramp was sent from Amazonโs warehouse and arrived in a large, unmarked, flimsy cardboard box that was beat to hell (and way bigger than it needed to be, and the pieces were thrown together in there with no protection whatsoever. So of course, it was damaged and broken. There were no assembly instructions in the box and the screws were thrown in a knock off ziplock bag with no tools. I bought this ramp NEW mind you. Paid full price for it, and yet it was pretty obvious they had sent me a damaged return that had most definitely been used before being ripped apart and sent back. I am still giving this item 5 stars because I do believe this is a fault on Amazonโs part, seeing as the order is fulfilled through an Amazon warehouse and not through the actual company, who was wonderful. I logged in to speak to customer service after receiving the damaged ramp, but Amazon only had an option to talk directly to the sellerโs company, so I was sent to the sellers website instead. (Turned out to be a blessing! Amazon customer service has gone downhill) I chatted with a customer service agent at PetSafe, who was very friendly, and he sent me out a replacement right away. I got a shipping email from fedex the next day and my replacement was delivered in a few days (order placed Friday, got it Monday! It was Easter weekend, so surprisingly fast) The replacement confirmed to me that Amazon had in fact sent me a returned item instead of a new one because the new one arrived in a branded box, all the pieces were shrink wrapped and protected, there were instructions, and a sealed bag with screws, washers, and little tools were included. Once I got the replacement, it was easy to put together! All the pieces were included and the ramp in very sturdy. It looks very nice, so it doesnโt feel out of place in my home. I have 2 small dogs (15 pounds and 12 pounds) and they both took to the ramp pretty quickly and seem to like it. They donโt slip at all going up or down and can get on and off the bed with no trouble now. In the end Iโm incredibly happy with my purchase and would recommend this bed ramp to anyone with pets! If Iโm in the the market for another ramp or something similar I will definitely purchase from PetSafe again (though I will be going through them directly instead of taking the gamble with Amazon) TL;DR : The ramp is excellent, but maybe buy it from the actual company (PetSafe) instead of Amazon. Then youโll be sure you are getting what you paid for. Photo 1: Some of the damaged pieces I received from Amazon and the weird baggie of screws I got. Photo 2: This is the box my replacement came in (from the company) so if you do order from Amazon make sure it comes in the actual product box so you know itโs new. Photo 3: The packaging, little tools, and pamphlets that came with my replacement from the company and were NOT included in the beat up package I got from Amazon.

Sturdy, Good Quality, Not THAT Much Work to Assemble
We'd tried all the plastic steps, to no avail. Especially when placing them on carpet, they don't feel steady and the dogs didn't trust them--rightfully so. So I searched for "high" and "pet ramp" and was glad to find this. I was very skeptical, and yes, it is steady whether placed on carpet or hard floors. So, our 11 year old beagles get up in the middle of the night like lots of us older folks do. They have no problem getting off the bed and running outside, but they can't get back up because they are older and the bed is higher than most. So this product was a huge help. I have one beagle that is 29 pounds, and one that is 39 pounds; very different in size (female and male). First, they don't find the carpeted surface to be slippery; they don't run up the ramp so there is no reason to slip. They walk normally, and have no trouble with it (I read slippery carpet is a problem for some; just not with us). So before spending time and mondy on modifications, see how it meets your needs. The "landing" at the top of the ramp may be helpful for very disabled dogs or very small dogs, so it's good to have, and is the perfect height for our high bed. However, my 11 year old dogs don't need/use it, at least not yet. The smaller dog goes 3/4 of the way up and is comfortable with a very short hop to the bed off the ramp (and it doesn't wobble--they trust it). The larger dog goes 2/3 of the way up, and hops up as well. As they get older, I expect they take more advantage of the full length, and maybe the landing; but not now. We have it at the foot of a king size bed, and the slope is perfect, with a length nicely long enough to allow a gradual slope that doesn't intimidate our dogs. Once I place them at the base and tell them to get on the bed, they get it, are not afraid of it, and walk right up--again, very sturdy. It's only been two nights but I fully know in the next two days will be natural and I won't need point out the obvious. Old dogs do learn new tricks!. Caution: My dogs, getting down, try to jump over it for now, or they stand and stare. So showing them how to step off of it (put their front two paws on the ramp and they take it from there) is as important as them learning to to get onto the bed. Still, this once again will be self evident as the dogs used to it and as they get older. Assembly: The box was very well packed, and all the tools you need (hex wrench and small end wrench) are included--so you don't need a thing. I didn't note any particle board parts--real wood with proper bolts/sleeves so you won't have to worry about this getting rickety over time. Tip: tape the tools to the bottom of it so if you have to tighten something or disassemble, they'll always be there. Not everyone has a hex wrench at hand. The hardest part was unwrapping plastic wrap off all of the pieces. This product is highly recommended. Yup, cost a bit, but seems worth it so far!

โธป Good Ramp Overall โ Much Better Than Stairs for Older Dogs
This is a pretty good ramp overall. It took me about 30 minutes to assemble, and the instructions were fairly straightforward. I was a little worried about the slippery rug surface since many reviews mentioned it, but so far it hasnโt been a problem for my little dogs. I did spend some time training them with treats to go up and down the ramp so theyโd feel more comfortable, and theyโre still getting used to it โ it definitely takes some patience. Going down seems to be a little bit more of a problem, but weโll get there. The only improvement Iโd personally like is side railings, since I worry about them stepping off the side, especially while theyโre still learning. That said, itโs much better than the steep stairs we were using before, especially for my older pups. Overall, Iโm happy with the purchase and glad I made the switch.

Game changer for senior dogs
Took about 2 or 3 days, but my 12YO golden can get up on our bed now without any hesitation or help! This is fantastic for our older dog, and you can truly see the increased quality of life it brings her. Super well made, and super solid and sturdy. My grade school aged son has definitely climbed up and down it a few times! As other reviews point out, the surface covering can be a little slippery - this was part of those 2 or 3 days of the girl figuring it out - but now that she knows how to use it, I haven't seen her slip at all. As she ages further, though, I'll probably look at resurfacing it to keep things easy for her. It's also relatively sleek and compact for it's size - it doesn't take up any extra space that it doesn't need to, although it doesn't fold at all. That being said, it is definitely sturdy enough that you could prop it up on its end and put it up against a wall out of the way if you wanted to. We just leave it up all day because it fits so well at the foot of our king bed and because the color matches the bedroom furniture almost perfectly.

Great Ramp - Wrong Item!
We ordered this ramp in WHITE for our mini dachshund as we're getting a new bedroom set, in white. This arrived today and only after opening could I see it was the wrong one. As you can see by the pictures it is the cherry wood. We have NOTHING in our house that is cherry wood. I hate cherry wood! But the dog needs a ramp, so we'll use it and eventually stain it white. This was packaged in what can only be described as a Russian Nesting Doll packaging, a box, in a box, in a box, in cardboard and styrafoam with nothing on the outside indicating it's color or wood type until you've literally opened the whole thing. Meaning repacking to send back to Amazon would be a major PITA. *sighs* I am not a happy camper! And sadly I'm stuck with an item I didn't order until we can get it stained to match our furniture. Not good Amazon! Not good at all. :( Add to it I have a sign on my door stating to DO NOT KNOCK. Not only did he knock but he slammed the box up against the door making a racket. So very unhappy with this product and delivery all the way around. The good? it is a very sturdy ramp and my dachshund doesn't have any problems going up or down. It is a nice tall height, which is perfect for our new bed. And it was easy to put together. All the screws, washers, caps, and Allen Wrench were all included in the packaging. **Note - This is a HEAVY solid wood ramp. I worked up a sweat just bringing it in the house and trying to get all the boxes out from each other. I appreciate the wrapping to protect the real wood. But some indicator on the outside to show the wood type before you even open the thing would be nice.

Bought this for my elderly obese cat
I don't usually write reviews, but after buying and assembling this ramp, I just had to chime in. First, it is a beautiful piece of furniture. Very sturdy, solid wood with cherry finish and good quality, low pile, light tan carpet. Second, I had no issues assembling the ramp that weren't of my own making. Third, I got this done in one hour, by myself including the time it took to open the box and take all the pieces out and fix the couple of errors I made. Fourth, maybe because this was for my cat and not a dog, she had absolutely no problem climbing it. There was about 20 minutes where she was confused why her stairs were missing and why this big thing was there in its place, but I did what others recommended and put treats along the ramp, and it took minutes for her to get the idea. It's now been one day and she has gone up and down it at least a dozen times with no issue and NO SLIPPING OR SLIDING. Now, to address the assembly complaints. The pre drilled holes are not just holes. They have metal threads in them already. So there is no forgiveness. When I started to put it together, I was having trouble getting the legs attached to the top piece (which is the first step). But I was patient and finageled the holes and screws to match. Then I went to attach the legs to the middle piece (which is the second step) and none of the holes matched. I was thinking "oh no, all those reviews were right and the holes don't match!" But I took a breath and looked real closely at the picture in the directions, and I realized that I had the legs going the wrong way. So I disassembled it and switched the legs and the holes all matched as they were supposed to. To be clear, because the threads are already in the wood, there is no margin for error. What is crucial to do is not tighten the screws until you have them all in their respective holes. I needed just that tiny bit of wiggle room in order to get all the screws aligned with their holes. That was especially true of the braces on the back of the ramp. Once all the screws were in the holes for a particular step, then I went back and tightened them. And once the whole ramp was completed, I went back and tightened the screws one last time. I am thrilled with this ramp! I am now thinking of buying another for the living room because my cat can't get up and down her favorite cat perch anymore and the ramp would solve that problem and look good too.

Easy to assemble and your pets will love the independence it gives them.
This is my second one. First was destroyed in an accident. I have three Yorkies that can feel very independent now. Was easy to assemble and is very sturdy. Would highly recommend it to others.

Strudy build but not at all slip resistant!
Sturdy build and a really good size. Problem is its horrbily slippy for my dog. He slips when trying to go up the ramp to a point that hes unsure about using it instead he preferes the cheaper foam ramp over using this one but he cant use either to get off the bed. As he is an elderly dog im considering fitting a rubber mat to this so he can use it but as it is sold it is too slippy for my dog so consider the additional costs of fitting rubber matting or stops to the ramp so it can be used safely and comfortably. If not for the poor quality of the supposidly anti slip matting this would have been a better review.

My Chihuahua loves this ramp!
We have tried all kinds of steps and stairs to allow our Chihuahua to go up and down to our king size bed. Everything we tried did not work because the steep angle of the steps was frightening for him to go down. I finally constructed from empty plastic containers covered with carpet something that allowed me to extend the length and therefore having a decent angle without being too steep for him to climb up and down. However, assembling over 6 boxes every night and taking them down every morning was a chore on top of the fact that he used to wake us up with the noise every time he went up or down. When I found this ramp in Amazon, saw the specifications (70 inches in length) with carpet and made out of sturdy wood, I knew we had found the ideal solution to our problem. This ramp is made very sturdy, high quality, well finished worth every penny. It takes some patience to put it together, since the bolts have to align perfectly to tighten them in place. The only improvement that would be ideal is if the legs would de collapsible or easily removable so as to allow us to put away the ramp easily in a closet. Because of this, the ramp has to stay permanently in place since it is quite cumbersome to move it with the legs attached. So I added wheels! Other than this, it is a fantastic solution for people that have pets that share your bed with you and are too small to jump onto the bed. I will recommend it highly, if you have the room to leave it beside the bed.

Literally the best purchase i made for my dachshund
He was very scared at first. After half a day of training with treats and loads of motivation (me lying on bed and him wanting to be with me), he now runs up and down the ramp with no fear. the height of the ramp is great for most queen beds and i love the chic colour.

Good quality.
Very happy with product.

Expensive but worth it.
If your dog is afraid of things that wobble and shake, this is stable enough for them to use without being afraid.
