Great Great Great Shoe
This is my 4th pair of Saucony shoes but 1st pair of their Trial Shoes. I run on the street in the Saucony Kinvara 3. While these Peregrine 3's are not quite as light as the Kinvara’s, the tread is more durable which accounts for the weight. By No means are these heavy. In fact they are the lightest trail shoes I have ever had on my feet. It’s a Minimalist shoe but does not feel like one. I would say I only feel 1 out of every 30 or so rocks on the trial and those I feel look very sharp yet feel dull to my feet. The tread is Awesome when running up hill and down hill in muddy conditions. It does not cake up too much & weigh your feet down yet I always feel like I have sure footing and traction on rocks, mud, dirt and wet surfaces. I have wider feet so I ordered ½ size up but I could have easily gone with my normal size because I now lace them up tighter. The other great thing is that I have not had any pebbles or anything inside the show while running. I ordered these after reviewing the Peregrine 2’s for Mudder style obstacle races. Time will tell if these shoes break down. I’m a shoe abuser @ 200lbs. The Kinvara 3’s last me about 250miles before the tread wore too thin. The ordering & Shipping was great too!

Great trail shoe
I am a fairly wide-footed individual and based on a friend's advice, went for this size. They fit perfectly and lace up nice and snugly. They are very light compared to my old Nikes and have a much-reduced heel, promoting a better running style. I noticed the trail running sole immediately running off-road: sharp stones are no longer felt 'spiking' your foot as the sole has a hard layer within it.Update Aug 14:These shoes have been working really well for me, the big things that are simply awesome about them are;1) The tread. It grips in amazingly slippery conditions including snow and wet desert dust. This is the best part of the shoe for me and makes my trail running much more efficient and psychologically rewarding, particularly uphill.2) The light weight.

... thing this is not a trail shoe I would recommend for a rocky trail
First thing this is not a trail shoe I would recommend for a rocky trail.I am a slight over pronator and I found myself on numerous times being very close to rolling my ankles because of the shoe. On these times it was because of the shoe, the forefoot will cause your foot to shift to the left or right when you are landing on your forward foot. The reason for four star is because it is still a very good shoe on hard packed trails and provides great traction. Only buy this shoe if you are light on your feet because you will feel 70% of impact because of firm cushioning.

well design & comfortable
excellent trail running shoes. I use to purchase Solomon and Inov-8, found it in Amazon, this is my first trail running shoes of Saucony, and just found it is a well design running shoes. Maybe the protection for the toe is not much as compare with my Solomon, but it is light weight, comfortable, and you don't need to take time to adapt it's design & fitting. My first test with it is a 25km cross country training, and I have no trouble at all. and I already thinking to order its new model Peregrine 4.

Too unstable for trail running
I run trails, almost exclusively. This is probably the lightest shoe I ever bought. The great aspect of this shoe is really how light it is for how sturdy it is at the bottom. The shoe fit perfectly, the size was spot on.However, my immediate feeling is that this shoe is pretty unstable, at least for me (6-foot, 172lbs, shoe size 11-12). Usually in running, there is less (or no) lateral motion, and more forward motion. So you wouldn't want to use a running shoe to play tennis, for example. But in trail running, I personally do a lot of lateral motion: bouncing off rocks, hopping across streams, downhill on dirt trail, etc. The lateral stability of my foot in this shoe was EXTREMELY poor. It almost felt I was wearing high heels... my ankles were unstable, and it felt like this was not a trail shoe at all. I think the high padding on this shoe, combined with its light weight, make it an unstable one for me.Not all runners are the same, mainly because not all feet are made the same. My feet did not like this alleged "trail shoe", 2 stars they said. I returned it and went for another shoe.

Excellent fit and performance, however poor wear
Like the Peregrine 2, the Peregrine 3 fits even and snug around the whole foot - like a nice glove! The light and nimble performance is second to none. Minimal feel, low heal to toe drop perfect for forefoot strikers and those who like a lite and nimble shoe. Unfortunately Saucony didn't improve the major flaw from the previous generation. The sides of the shoe start to rip after a short time leaving them inoperable. Outside of new colors and cosmetics I didn't notice any difference from the Peregrine 2. I would rather save $20 and opt for last years model - especially since these shoes break down so quickly.

lightweight versatile trail shoe.
worn these shoes for the past two years doing western pack burro racing in the co Rockies. I can't afford to trip. they have a narrow sole, adequate protection, very light, don't rub and good traction. we go all terrain types on these races. great shoe.

Not worth the money.
This shoes looks a lot better than it fits or performs. Not a whole lot of support or general comfort for that matter. Nice looking shoe but that's about it.
