Samsung Galaxy Tab for Seniors (Computer Books for Seniors series) Paperback – May 1, 2013

We purchased a Samsung Galaxy tablet for my parents but didn't fully consider the learning curve for them.... After several phone calls and some frustration on their part we looked to amazon's reviews on products that might help. We went through several options but finally decided on this one based on the reviews. So far, so good. My parents called today to tell us how much this is helping them go through screens, options and that the pictures are a plus. We will see if this stands the test of time but so far, so good. The phone calls have dropped to one or two a week versus daily so this seems a winner for all concerned. I enjoy talking with my parents but daily calls about a tablet??? I much prefer the calls to say hello and how is everyone doing. Good Luck!

When starting at the beginning of the book, nothing matched the screens I was seeing on my new Tab2,7 inch tablet. Also, the screen kept going off after about 10-15 seconds & I could never have enough time to see what I was reading. It was totally frustrating. Unfortunately, the information to lock the screen for a longer time was not easy to find and I gave up on trying to use the book as a guide for a new user.My husband, who has a Kindle Fire, finally gave up also on the book and just started to go into the icons available and little by little we have taught ourselves. I can now use the book for setting up the information I want to have on my tablet.The whole first section of the book was useless to a new user.

Finally, help for the older person who is treading carefully into the newer digitalized world. Don't laugh because this manual is written for your parents or grandparents who grew up with typewriters, manual and eventually electrical models. Just ask anyone who was born before 1980 and didn't take typing in high school. Ignorance is not bliss--it's irritating and intimidating to those of us who have figured out how to negotiate through life's complications.All we ask for is a little help--some thing to read on paper. What good does it do us when the instructions are hidden somewhere in the clouds?The step-by-step instructions are clear, organized, great for the classroom and beginners of all ages.

I took a chance on this book because of the price. It is a nicely written book. But it is somewhat out of date for the new Samsung tablet I bought. I am able to use some chapters of the book, but not all of them.

This is my first Android machine and I'm having difficulty changing from Windows based. the book has helped some, but not enough troubleshooting information. Unfortunately, most books assume that their instructions will be followed to the letter, but I sometimes fat finger a word and the tab doesn't do what I expect. There is no direction about how to get back to a starting point.

This book was a help in my learning to use my Samsung Pad 2; I was able to follow the directions easily, but, I have learned to operate my Samsung III phone and it does operate the same way. What I did like was the fact I set up my Kindle to read and Pandora for music. I keep the book handy as my reference guide.

Bought this for my 75 yr old father when he got his first tablet. He had virtually no computer knowledge beyond playing games on one. This had him setting up and and working his tablet like a pro. Well written and understandable. The print size was another reason I bought this for him. It was perfect and easy for him to read. By the way, it is not directly written for the samsung galaxy tab 4, but the info was just as applicable to the tab 4.

This computer book is WONDERFUL! Step by step instructions that I can actually follow. (Much better than the "dummy" books.) I was so intimidated by my Galaxy at first that I hardly wanted to use it. And checking out the user manual on the internet was not my cup of tea. I now have an honest to goodness book in my hands that actually answers most if not all of my questions. I am sooooo glad I found this! Well worth the money.

This book is an excellent choice if like me you are eighty-four and find yourself with a Galaxy Tab then wonder what you are going to do with it. When I first got mine I spent over a week trying to download the manual from the Samsung website. I failed and then spent many weeks stumbling about pressing the wrong icons and getting more irritated by the hour. Luckily on a visit to Holland I saw a Dutch version of this book and was impressed so that on my return to the UK I ordered the English version from Amazon and I have been well pleased with the book. The content is very comprehensive and uses a Visual Steps system for showing you the Galaxy Tab uses such as using email, web surfing, using the installed applications, downloading additional 'apps', taking photos and making videos and finally adding music to your tablet. Each step is explained in detail and accompanied by a generous number of screen shots so that that you can see as well as read what you are doing. And, to put a 'cherry on the cake' there is an accompanying web site where you can find 'bonus chapters' not to mention a free newsletter if you want it. So this has been a great help to me at eighty-four so I'm sure it can help many other seniors. If I had to make one gripe it would be that in their eagerness to make everything plain there are one or two pages that look too crowded and 'busy'.

I got this for my husband who has just purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab. It is so helpful and I don't think he would have got very far without it! It explains really well, the way to set up and use the tablet.

This book was a gift for my 87 year old father. He was struggling with his new tablet. This has given him easy to understand instructions, with good clear pictures making it simple to follow. Excellent!

This book is completely incomprehensible to me. I am no wiser on how to use my Samsung tablet than before I received this book. I am completely computer literate with qualifications gained during the course of my career. This book starts at a high level of prior knowledge of how to access and use a Samsung tablet and to move freely across the instructions which hide the fact that prior knowledge is required - it is DEFINITELY not a manual which can be of any assistance for a "Senior" or any other computer literate beginner. So disappointing that my Samsung tablet is now only used at a very basic level.

Purchased for my wife, to give her a insight how it all works,well laid out, great ref: guide to all systems, found a great help,would recommend for anyone with a tablet.as usual swift delivery from amazon.
