Needs a flash mount if using a speed light
Creates great soft light and very compact when folded up. Seems durable as well.

The ulitimate portable softbox
Most of the soft boxes that I have seen on the market have the mounting bracket on the rear of the modifier, making for a very unbalanced soft box, or worse the flash is incorporated inside the modifier, and the soft box is unable to be tilted unless you use a boom arm on the light stand. The Walimex is a soft box umbrella, it is designed to be used with a Bowens S type adapter, with the diffuser tying and zipping up to the rear of the flash, this has 2 distinct advantages, 1) the flash itself can be adjusted without undoing the diffuser and 2) the Bowens mount on the light stand can be adjusted to any angle desired. The soft box and diffuser are sewn together, and the soft box is popped open just as you would with an umbrella, the centre rod is secured through the Bowens mount, and the flash is secured into the Bowens mount with the head pointing into the silvered reflective interior, tie, and zip the diffuser around the lower part of the flash, and adjust the angle of the Bowens mount, the height is set by the light stand, taking only about a minute to set up, it is very lightweight to move around, and when folded can be carried with the light stand to any location. In use the modified light just seems to softly wrap around your subject, and I only have a low power speed light, so I'm very pleased with this product. The first photo shows the softbox diffuser erected, I'm using a Godox AD200 flash held in the Bowens S mount, but most flash units will fit, the cord wraps around the flash unit, the flash controls / readout are fully accessible, and the softbox can be adjusted to any angle. The second photo is a portrait, and the softness of the diffused flash can be readily seen.

Average build, quite hard light quality
For £20 this is a decent light reflector. The umbrella isn't particularly well made and the light output isn't especially soft but it's a little more controllable than a standard silver umbrella. The fact it's silver bouncing through white actually makes it relatively hard light, compared to bouncing off a white brolly. But if that's what you need then this will be fine for you. I don't think it will stand up to very rough use though.I would have much preferred a white interior to the silver one personally, in fact I might try and spray it.

Beautiful soft light
Provides a beautiful soft wrap around light for portraits and combined with a lighting stand, speedlight and portable background gives a lightweight portrait kit that can be taken anywhere. As it fits to the stand and mount like a normal umbrella the bar is perfect for lining up the shot. Only drawback is zip is a little flimsy so treat it gently. All in all worth every penny

Great piece of kit for on-the-fly shoots
UPDATE: In trying to find a grid for this, I decided I would take on a few other modifications too. I have cut a small hole in the black canvas of the umbrella, so that I can feed a light stand through it. This allows me to have the entire speedlight or strobe hidden inside the umbrella, reducing the black that can be seen in catch lights if you're doing close portraits. Now it's nearly all a white surface as you would get with a normal softbox. This works really well if you're using a boom stand as you can essentially angle it however you want straight from the boom's angle clamp rather than messing with anything close to or inside the light. (If your light is high up it's a pain to have to bring it down to adjust and then put it back at it's height).I removed the staples from the broken zip (could have sent it back when it arrived like that but I wasn't bothered. It is in no way a sturdy or reliable zip though. Expect it to break).I've also found a grid that, with a few bits of glued velcro, fits like a charms. The original cheap investment has paid off yet again :-)ORIGINAL REVIEW:Great piece of kit for on-the-fly shoots. Would give 5 stars if the zip to close off the canvas when a light has been put in wasn't broken when it arrived. Not a problem though as I've just stapled it up.

Great even light
I have an octagonal soft box I used for a while, its the walimex one, takes ages to put up and you need strength and dexterity to put it together, its also heavy on the clamps and usually droops with my new flash on the stand.I saw this and thought I would give it a try. Tried some shots last night and very pleasantly surprised. Light is very even over a big area. Flash gun was on 10 out of 60, so 1/6 power and used f11. The inside is very silver. Was a bit concerned about the skirt going around the gun head, I thought it might get hot from the modelling light? Also can restrict the vents for the fan around my flash head maybe a little. But other than that its a great umbrella comes in a bag for storage. The stem seems solid, but my bracket doesnt clamp it, it is just spring tension but this is so light it holds ok.Overall its great, good even light dispersion and for the price, stick to this and use a couple.
