A: This knife is both suitable for men and ladies. It weights around 8.5 ounces, a little lighter and smaller than the normal cleaver. This weight and size is moderate for ladies but could be lighter for men. It will be perfect for you if you prefer a small cleaver as well as slicer slicer.

A: no, it does not need to be sharpened. Reasonably good out of the box. This is a medium veggie cleaver, not a light or a heavy cleaver. It's in between. Medium hard steel, not super hard not super soft. Good multipurpose choice. But not specialized one way or the other

**Q: Can I use this knife to chop meat and bones?**
A: This is a slicing knife. It is suitable for cutting and slicing meat, vegetable and fish. But it is not suitable for chopping bone because the blade edge is quite thin and sharp for quick slicing. A: The tomato test is just something that is a marketing gimmick. It means that it has a reasonable bevel out of the box, but it also means it is NOT too sharp that the high bevel slides off the skin. That means it is only moderately high sharpness, not that it is razor sharp.

Also, out of the box sharpness means nothing.  Every knife has retention based partially on the hardness of the blade. And the harder the blade, the more likely it is to chip.
