Is the mesh itchy after a while? I'm trying to decide between the mesh and the satin-looking fabric.

The mesh is on top of fabric. If you have a big waist and back measurement like I do over 40 inches even an xl will not close completely when you lace it up. I would pass on this one if I was buying another corset. I have seen better on seen on TV infomercials.

Would you see it under clothes?

Short answer, YES. Most people wearing this have some weight on them, and this tends to cause a muffin top under armpits so you can see that under, say, tshirts and jersey dresses. You can also see the boning and laces in a tight top. But if you are wearing looser clothes, than no (but then you aren't showing off the effects quite so much either).

My natural waist is 22" and 23" after eating, should I buy this corset, or would I need a corset for 18"-19" inches instead?

buy bigger size. Don't buy smaller even if they tell you it's better. Mine was xxl and it fitted me perfectly. I'm a L size.
