I use alkanet root for naturally coloring my handcrafted cold process soap. It turns blue when the lye is added, just like purple cabbage changes color based on acidity/alkalinity (if you add vinegar, it would turn red/pink). I mix alkanet with other root powders to get the color I desire. Good price for the quantity.

I got this alkanet root to naturally color my cp soaps and it works wonders! You have to infuse it in oil dirt to get the right color if you just put the powder in the batch it will just be greyish with speckles. A little goes a long way.

The powder is a very dark brown. Blended with my soap it looks gross!! It stings to the touch.

Use for making soap. It gives a beautiful purplish colour.
