Excellent Resource, Especially if You Already HAVE a Special Needs Trust
Excellent resource. I already had a special needs trust but used this book to review my existing trust as I was in the process of changing my attorney/designated trustee. It really helped me better understand the trust and how it works as well as raising questions for clarification with my new attorney/trustee. This book is written clearly and succinctly, organized extremely well and provides access to excellent on-line resources. I have shared it with a number of my friends as a means of encouraging them to "get off the dime" and get their own special needs trusts in place.

BUY THE BOOK! DO WHAT IT SAYS!
I bought this and one other book on the strength of reviews. Both were GREAT1 This one goes into more detail on certain aspects but for some one that knew nothing about this subject I highly recommend this book! Has the how to that you could do before you go have it double checked with an attorney , estate or financial planner. According to book you could do just this . I don't plan to get quite that bold considering the consequences of making a mistake could be devastating to the one I'm trying to protect It is not recommended, it you have to Id think this is the book to do it with .

Save money You can set up your on Special Needs Trust.
For most people setting up a special need trust this is all you need. There is a changeable template downloadable from online rft file open with Word or other word processing software and instructions are very clear. The important thing is to be detailed oriented and anyone can successfully do this. It is also important to change your will or estate trust so that the money/property inherited goes to the special needs trust and not directly to the special needs child. There are also amend trust form online.

Special Needs Trusts, Read all about it!
I like the eaey to read format. I like the fact that it breaks the subject down into easy to understand sections. I like the fact that it has a trust document filled out and explains in details how to write your own trust, what to say, and what not to say. AIt gives lots of examples and tells you when you need to consult a lawyer. It also has lots of references and helpful tips to remember when writing this type of document.

Very Helpful
It's hard to find good sources for any number and age group of "special needs" children. As a parent of such a child who is now 40+ years old.... this book provided excellent information for estate planning issues that come in later years. The information is informative and presented in easy to understand, layman terms. I highly recommend the book.

Good overview, easy read, reasonable depth.
Very helpful. Broad treatment of the subject covers major and minor and collateral topics in a well-written and relatively quick read. I would not try to run the whole course with just this book, but it was just what I was looking for: a relatively detailed backgrounder to provide orientation on the topic before meeting with an attorney.

Excellent resource if you have a child with handicaps
I would recommend this book, and also the author's other book on managing a special needs trust. It's a great overview of what factors into these products. I would never attempt to write this kind of a trust without a lawyer, though.
