The information listed about each city and sight is extremely limited, sometimes amounting to no more than a sentence or two. But I can't help giving them five stars anyway because I LOVE LOVE LOVE the DK Eyewitness Guides as my first introduction to a city, state or country. I own dozens of them. It's always the first book I buy when I'm considering a travel destination because it contains color pictures of almost everything. The book points out the most important sites to see and then shows less important places as well. The photos enable me to narrow down which places I want to visit. Even better than the photos are the in depth diagrams of places like churches and museums. After studying the map/diagram I have a good knowledge of how to get around the place once I arrive. These books are great "eye candy" and great arm chair reading. You'll still need to buy another travel book like a Rough Guide or Lonely Planet handbook but DK Eyewitness books are the place to start your travel planning. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Book On Philtown *by R***S on Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2010* This guide book is slightly out of date now, but it features some cutaway diagrams of Philadelphia buildings which you won't find anywhere else. It also has plenty of photos to serve as inspiration for making the trip. I'm not sure why all the Philadelphia guide books include Lancaster and the Pennsylvania Dutch Country because that area is actually far from the city and deserves its own book.This book is so old that the Comcast Center does not even appear in any of its skyline photos. There are other changes you should be aware of. For example, SEPTA is eliminating the confusing "R" and numbers and rebranding Regional Rail using the current destination names. And today I learned that the Prince Theater on Chestnut Street is going bankrupt so something may change there. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Comprehensive travel book *by W***E on Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2011* The Eyewitness Travel guides have become my favorite travel books - they are comprehensive yet still easy to follow. I moved to Philadelphia recently and wanted a book to become familiar with the area and explore. It's more comprehensive than I could have imagined. Sometimes a bit hard to follow because attractions are organized according to city neighborhoods (which I'm not familiar with yet - and the only reason I gave the review a 4 star), but otherwise it's very informative.
