Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks [Map Pack Bundle] (National Geographic Trails Illustrated Map)

I like the size and detail of these maps. They are resistant to tears, spills, precipitation and more. You can write on them with permanent or dry erase markers for highlighting your next adventure. Unfortunately, I do not feel that these maps offer the amount of detail needed for back country hiking. This map is geared for the visitor that is interested in more of the "advertised" sights. However, they do encourage the traveler to interact more with nature.

I purchased this map set for our up and coming trip to Yellowstone and the Tetons. The first thing I want to say is that the map for Yellowstone is NOT the real detailed one like the Teton one is. I was not aware of this at the time of purchase. The maps included are 201 (Yellowstone) and 202 (Grand Teton). National geographic also offers Yellowstone maps for the Southwest region (302), Northwest (303), Northeast (304) and Southeast (305) in a more detailed version. That said the 201 map is still really nice it may not be as easy to read for shorter hiking trails. It is a really big park so it requires having 4 separate maps for more detail. The map is made out of a really nice material or it has a coating on it that makes it waterproof and still nice pliable. If you're planning to write on it I would suggest a sharpie and a highlighter doesn't seam to stick to it. I would also recomend to get the National Geographic guide books to go with it. I got a different brand so the trail numbers don't match up. Once I get back I'll update on how well the worked.

These maps are so much better than what gets distributed at the parks. Made navigating and planningbto see the sights so much easier

These are very good maps, printed on tough, waterproof paper. The map annotation is excellent, with one glaring exception - the trails have no mileage markers on them. I am accustomed to the Green Trails Maps that have POIs AND accurate trail mileage annotation. I do like the way the UTM grid is printed (needed for GPS navigation). It is easy to read. For the basic needs of navigating the roads and finding POIs, most people would do fine with the free map handed out by the park. These National Geographic maps are more suited to backcountry travelers who need good trail markers, UTM grid, and topographic altitude contours. They are also a pleasure to look at when sitting around the campfire, planning the next day's adventure.

Great guide for visiting parks

Lists roads, turnouts, waterways, and trails with hiking distance. Very detailed and accurate. Highly recommend if you are going to Yellowstone or Grand Teton. You won’t have GPS access in most places, but you won’t even notice with this map.

Great map for our upcoming tip to yellowstone

I really like the protection coating on this map. The details are so helpful to finding areas of interest for my trip. I would buy this again.

There are no trail distances on the Grand Teton map!

Les deux cartes de Yellowstone et de Grand Téton sont très bien conçues. On y trouve tous les renseignements utiles, en plus de son chemin ! Les campings, les points de ravitaillement, les stations essences, mais aussi les parcours de rando avec le n° de balisage de chacun des circuits. Légèrement plastifiée, la carte ne se dégrade pas à l'humidité.
