Nice Read!
I enjoyed reading this book, but I was confused on who these different women were! It took me several chapters in before I understood the connection between them all! It brought tears to my eyes when things happened the way they did with Vanessa! Asia is a Hot Mess for what she did! I think I would have felt the same way as Kendra about her husband and sister!!!! And Sheridan, well, she needed time to figure out who and what she wanted! This is a book everyone will enjoy! I definitely recommend it!

Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman Scorned!
This was my second read by Victoria Christopher Murray and I must admit that I'm impressed. After reading the appealing "Stand Your Ground," I knew I had to check out some more of this author's work, and I have to admit that I was hesitant after noticing that her books were categorized as Christian Fiction...thank God I gave it a chance anyways. This novel was packed with drama. I somewhat noticed the non-existence of sex and explicit language but that was okay because V. Murray's compelling writing made me not care.As for most books that I've read these past few years, I didn't care too much about the characters, but I loved reading about three of them; Sheridan and her mixed feelings for her husband, Kendall's lack of wanting to help her dying sister after finding out about the betrayal, and Vanessa's troubling thoughts of connecting back with her husband after he committed suicide. Those three were very intriguing plots. Asia on the other hand...I wanted the skip her chapters. Her plot of revenge by adding her daughter to the mix pissed me off so badly. I was completely disgusted at how low down and dirty she went just to make a man--that was never really hers in the first place--hurt because he wanted to do right by his wife. I'm not saying I couldn't understand her frustrations...after years of the glamorous life, good sex, and only giving herself to him, I would feel some kind of way about him deadened most of that as well. Although I wasn't quite fond of her storyline, I must admit that I did love her character development. She was the most developed in my eyes. (Kendall would somewhat be second.)If the rest of the Christian Fiction genre is anything like this author's books, I might delve into a few more authors, but I'm most certainly reading the continuation of this novel and the rest in her portfolio. I HIGHLY recommend this book!

Unsatisfied
While I have been a fan of Mrs. Christopher Murray's since the beginning, I must admit I was not at all happy with this book in particular. I am very familiar with Sheridan's story so the development was there originally, but although the characters were developed a bit initially, the last 3 or so chapters seemed rushed and everything was under developed to me.And this is strictly in my opinion, but I was not happy because I feel it was lacking in development. After all the build-up of the characters, I was just not satisfied with the ending. I am happy that they all ended up being friends, but again, I could have used more developing with the endings and the characters. The character that incensed me the most though was the Kendall's father, the nerve of him for not only expecting his wife to welcome the daughter that was a constant reminder of an affair, but to guilt Kendall into donating her organs and refusing to talk to her because she did not want to was too much for me. I understand the Christian forgiveness thing and believe that she held onto unforgiveness a tad bit too long, but her father was unbelievable. She would have healed internally a long time ago had she released them and walked in forgiveness. Been there, done that, not with a sister (blood), but with a dear friend that was like a sister. I forgave them both and walked away without looking back.Even though I was unhappy with this one, I have no intentions of not purchasing other books by her because I love her writing and think she is an exceptional writer, this one just took me aback is all.

I read this book because the author is my sorority sister and I wanted to support her. Lately, I have avoided the modern urban "sister-girl" books and returned to old classics because the newer books did not seem to hold my interest. Not true with The Ex Files! Ms Murray did a great job of developing interesting characters and story lines that were not so predictable and as well as fast paced. The four main characters are all uniquely different but find that we all can use good sister friends for support in our life issues. I read the book in a few days and purchased the sequel. Thank you Soror Murray for the great read....DST '71!

Awesome book!
I thought this was an excellent book! I read the kindle version in 2 days. While I did feel that the characters were a little unbelievable at times, overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was also happy to see a follow-up in The Ex Files to Sheridan's original story as told in Grown Folks Business, which I also read only 2 days- excellent also. Because this book wove together the stories of four main characters, the character development was not to the same extent as in Grown Folks Business. However in spite of her cramming all four characters in one novel, I thought Victoria did a very good job of tying their stories together. She is a very good writer and always leaves me wanting more! I am ready to read a follow-up novel on Sheridan, Asia, and Kendall because a single novel was just not enough!

Victoria addresses a lot of difficult topics with eloquence in her novel about life issues and how big of a mess we can get into. The characters are not two dimensional and she goes into depth as she exposes some very real dark elements that face women in dire circumstances. Not light reading. Expect to squirm occasionally and get mad with some of the characters as you read this novel. Worth your time.
