Came broken
In the body portion a small section of the backing around the red gear was snapped off. Couldn't locate the broken piece in the box so made one out of a similar shape piece of plastic I had. Got it functional and body + head operates. But then tried adding the rest of the auto bot design and the pressure of any additional gears is too much for the motor to spin even on a super sunny day like today. Uv index 9, but still can only get the bot to spin the little pegs on his side for the basic body setup. Anything more is too much. Would not buy again but maybe recommend if you just want to build a cool looking non functional robot lol

Fun Project
I bought this Lucky Doug Solar Power Kit for my grandson, and it was a huge success. He’s really into building things, and the fact that it's powered by the sun was a big selling point for me. The instructions were a little complex for him to follow on his own, so we worked on it together, which turned into a fun afternoon project. The pieces fit together well, and once we got it assembled, seeing it move outside was a fantastic moment for him. It's a great gift that's both a toy and a science lesson rolled into one.

Way too complicated, parts don't connect properly.
TL;DR: vague and convoluted directions + pieces don't connect properly = buy something else. I'm not usually compelled to write product reviews, but this thing was so bafflingly poor that I felt I needed to. Firstly, as others have said, the directions for the body and head (which you have to build as a first step before moving on to the 12 robot options) are WAY too convoluted for a kiddo -- even one who is skilled in model building and/or STEM builds. On top of that, the pieces require a level of precision (they're small gears, after all, and need to fit together) that the quality simply does not come close to matching. Many of the pieces need to be clipped off of a plastic sheet, leaving nubs that get in the way when the gears are trying to turn -- AND the gears don't actually fit together the way they are supposed to, leaving loose pieces that further jam things. Finally, even when I was able to get the gears to interlock (ignoring for the moment the aforementioned loose pieces), connecting the solar panel at least allowed them to move -- but reconnecting the front and back of the case pinched it all too much and everything jammed again. Absolutely infuriating, since he was so excited to get building after receiving this for Christmas. Seems like a very cool idea poorly executed. Avoid the hassle and move on to something else.

Deffective piece
It's 50 50 % chances after assembly the plastic gear and shafts motor will able to handle the rotation. Cause in my case alignment was off-center for shafts that's thier was play in the rotation.

Buying more for birthday gifts
I purchased this robot kit for my six year old son to assemble. The directions were obviously too tedious for him so we watched a few YouTube videos that explained how to build the robot. It was so simple that my 6 year old refused to let me help with building the roly-poly robot. I literally wasn't allowed to touch it. After about an hour and a half, he built the robot on his own (he only cut out the parts as needed--with child scissors) The solar component was a bit weak and so the robot only seems to work if you shine a flashlight directly on the solar panel..but it definitely worked. I am planning to purchase at least 5 more robots to gift to my son's classmates as birthdays roll around.

Weak solar panel
The solar panel is weak even at noon where the sun is bright and at its peak. Max output of solar panel is at 1.2V only. I used a 1.5V AAA battery and was able to get the rolly-Polly work. 3V button cell would work well

After triple check, the trials of the the body and head part doesn’t work … not sure how long it takes for the solar panel to work and it’s tricky
