Small Stainless Steel French Press, 12oz Dual-Filter Coffee Plunger Pot Brewer and Maker for Individual Serving, Silver

I love this French press!!! After about 8 broken glass carafes using our Bodum, we finally purchased this beautiful one. I should have bought this one first!!!! We use this interchangeably for loose leaf tea and coffee and works great for both. Pros: Gorgeous, simple, elegant, classy and classic. No glass to break. This is very sturdy- has held up so far to 3 months heavy use and I anticipate years of use from this item!!! Very easy to clean- large open top means I can reach in with my hand to pull out the old grounds and tea. My hand also reaches easily down to clean with a sponge. It doesn't stain with either coffee or tea- and washes easily with hot water and a touch of soap. No strainer opener at the top also keeps the top cleaner and more sanitary. The double wall construction keeps my drinks warm much longer than the glass one did. Price- no more expensive than a glass French press!! Cons: There are really only two. The first is obvious- you can't see the level of liquid inside. The other is that you can't unscrew the strainers on the bottom of the plunger. With my old press- the strainers easily unscrewed- making cleaning out tea leaves quite easy. These are welded together- and since I frequently use this for tea- I was really disappointed to find out that I couldn't separate the strainers. It makes cleaning the tea leaves out of the strainer portion quite difficult. Overall- in spite of the two cons- I am super happy with this purchase and highly recommend this item!!

"How do I love thee... let me count the ways..." After years of using a glass coffee press (BTW "French", like in the fries, has little to do with a coffee press pot, and ya, I know it's a common term) I had learned to love the coffee brewed and curse the makers of many broken, egg-shell glass pots to the deepest parts of Hades. They will crack/break if you look at them funny. For the few comments that suggest this is always due to some form of abuse... well, keep on buying glass. For more knowing, practical creatures,the ALL stainless steel, double walled is a blessing in all areas. I swore to replace the next broken coffee press with full stainless, but would always seem to find another like-new glass one in some resale store or EBay for 5 bucks and shelling out around 100 bucks for a "beautiful" top of the line stainless pot hurt my frugal feelings. Then my last glass pot cracked... in the cupboard, overnight, apparently attacked by tiny evil elves, because I had learned to handle glass pots like holy objects, with kid gloves. It was the last straw. Still, I knew drinking my morning elixir from a pot that cost a hundred bucks or so would not provide personal satisfaction. These pricey pots are fine, but I began to search reviews to locate one less expensive. Oh, the glass pot with the 4" crack luckily (magically) did not leak. Divine providence had allowed a day-to-day reprieve, while I compared reviews. The Highwin won. I took a chance and was rewarded. For about forty American dollars I have a stainless steel jewel and apparently an unbreakable workhorse... plus they sent a replacement screen along in the box. Like one could actually own a coffee press long enough to wear out the filter screen... Ha. For those seeking a great cup of Joe., simply, at home, without filling the coffers of your local shoppe, do NOT buy a press pot with ANY glass or plastic parts. (reread until you feel the truth of it). It's not all about low cost either, as I have a very fine $$ (now rather dusty) stainless steel, with a gold mesh filter, grind and brew electric coffee maker, used seldom, for large gathering of folks who neither know or care about great coffee. The "simply" part comes from some patient practice to get the brew just the way you want it. A coffee press makes coffee that tastes of coffee (having sampled coffees around the world, I'm not tough enough for Turkish made, consumed daily) and you cannot read the paper (computer screen now) through it, as served to the uninitiated masses, in many American restaurants. I recommend this coffee press highly... I have used it for about a month and It works better than any pot I have had, looks great (I like stainless steel) and the price is more than reasonable. Should my observations change, I will upgrade this epic comment. My thanks to the reasonable reviewers who led me to purchase the Highwin. I owe no allegiance to any coffee maker company nor would I mislead, with intent, on a subject I hold so dear. UPDATED: Okay... I have used this Highwin coffee press pot for about 9 months daily and it still wonderful on all points. Do not buy a coffee press with any glass or plastic parts. NOW... for those who say it is difficult to clean - you're doing it wrong. Should take less than a minute, maybe a bit more if you close your eyes... ... for those who think the double wall has something to do with keeping your coffee warm... your doing it wrong... brew your coffee and separate the fresh brew from the grounds, into a pre-heated coffee service carafe, or it will continue to brew into luke warm, bitter muck. You would be dismayed to learn how many comments here indicate they keep coffee & grounds together and wonder why it does not stay hot longer. I wonder how they drink the goop remaining in the press pot??? LEARN HOW TO PROPERLY BREW WITH A COFFEE PRESS with the many tips on Google and enjoy the finest cup o' joe right at home. ****April 2017 UPDATE 2+YEARS LATER: Still tickled with this, still looks like new, have yet to need the spare filter they provided and i use it nearly every day. If anyone suggests you buy ANY coffee press with ANY GLASS OR PLASTIC PARTS... walk away, this twisted, uninformed source (even if it's American Test Kitchen reviews)... has an alternative motive.

I originally bought my first one direct a couple of months ago, and now my second one from Amazon. I have experience making coffee with Expobar espresso machines, and for single serve I have been routinely using an aeropress for coffee making. I wouldn't call myself a coffee snob, but I do like a good strong cup of coffee, and this French press does the trick when I am brewing coffee for me and my wife. I liked it some much I bought two, one for home and one for the beach cottage. It is easy to use, clean and brew coffee. Stays hot a long time, especially if you preheat the vessel with hot water. I have had zero issues with grounds in my coffee. He is my method: Currently I warm up the vessel with hot water and leave it filled while my water comes to a boil. When the water comes to a boil I dump the heating water out of the vessel and put two heaping tablespoons of coffe I have ground, varying from medium to very fine grounds. I fill the vessel with hot water almost to the spout, stir the grounds a bit, then gently place the filter at the top of the floating grounds and set the cover so the beveled edge faces the spout and let it sit for at least 5 minutes. After the 5 minutes I gently press the filter down all the way and gently poor from there. I have never encountered any grounds in my coffe. You will however always have some very fine sediment, and I always get that even with my aeropress. But I have yet to see any floating coffee grounds in my coffee from this press.

I was weary at first having been spoiled by Amazon Prime and only ordering from anyone with free two-day shipping but I decided to make the plunge considering these for for almost double this price anywhere else. No regrets so far. The only complaints about this pres from the reviews were from people complaining about the not knowing the size they were ordering. The X-cup advertising for any coffee maker advertises for the STANDARD for coffee cups which is only 4oz and NOT the 8oz imperial unit of measurement. To remedy this confusion they almost always (or at least they should) follow up with an imperial and/or metric volumetric measurement. Fortunately I knew this so I got the exact size I wanted. Looks Great. Personally I wish it were a brush finish on the outside as well, personal preference and I'm too lazy to wipe down mirror finish steel every time. However you're not paying for a Frieling or anything so you can expect the usual minor imperfections (an 8oz Frieling press costs around $60). The handle for my plunger is noticeably crooked which is why I knocked off a star but for $25 I am pretty happy. Function Delicious. It makes great coffee. No odd tastes from the first use (I washed it before use of course). I've even frothed some milk for my coffee to see if it could(yes it can). Although there were some aesthetic flaws as mentioned above there seems to be no problem with functionality. Insulated stainless steel allows me to breathe a sigh of relief when I accidentally touch the side. The handle is always cool while I'm using it and it pours beautifully. Value Unbelievable. For half the price of a Grunwerg and a third of the price of a Frieling I got similar functionality. It seems like it will last a LOT longer than the glass and plastic Bodum press I was replacing (broke after only a few months of light use!) which I paid a similar price for and looks a lot nicer. Overview I will never buy a glass press again, if I ever even need to replace this one. Fantastic value for a great cup of coffee. If you're looking for a personal press that costs a whole lot less than it looks, look no further. I ordered mine via Amazing-Goods and did not receive an extra mesh screen as some other reviewers stated but the unit arrived 5 days ahead of schedule.

Great French Press! After going through a number of glass-walled French Presses that would inevitably break, as a result of kids, falling, or banging against something while washing I decided that a stainless steel option would stand a better shot at survival. After three months of use, including a couple falls off the counter, it is still in as-new condition. The double mesh filters leave considerably less sediment at the bottom of the mug, without compromising on the full-bodied flavor (I enjoy a very dark, rich brew). My order arrived with a replacement filter as a bonus, I'm not sure if that comes standard or was a special promotion. The vacuum double-walled insulation keeps the coffee extra hot while it steeps, and the cool outer wall attests to its effectiveness. I really enjoy every cup of coffee it makes. My only regret is not getting a larger size -- my wife said she wouldn't want a cup when I made coffee, so I only went with the single serving size, but it's so good that she cant resist! My one surprise was the size of the handle. It seems to stick out farther than I would have guessed from the picture. Together with the double-walled construction, the result is a bulkier product than I would have imagined for a single serve French press. This is not a problem for me, but if you're heading camping or such, and space is a concern, then make sure to be aware of this French press's larger size. Absolutely happy with this purchase. I feel that the quality and taste of the coffee since I have started using this press has improved greatly, stays warmer longer compared to glass ones. Like others out there, simple to use. It has a snug fit (the plunger) that if you push hard/fast you may develop an air pocket that can cause leakage / coffee to spew out, take care. I’ve not experienced this with other presses myself though the last one I used wasn’t as snug and often had floating coffee grounds in my cup. Being metal I can handle and clean without worry of breakage, like the glass ones.

UPDATE: I'm upgrading to five stars. I've had this for over three years now. It's used twice a day, every day. Still going strong and looks great. I have the stainless steel one, not the copper finish. Been making a pot of coffee with this press every morning for 8 months now. It works well, is easy to use, and nearly indestructible. I would have broken at least one of the glass carafes by now. Took off one star because of design of filter screen. Grounds catch between screen and plunger, so you have to unscrew nearly every time to clean properly. It's easy to do, but shouldn't be necessary. For those who asked if the double wall keeps it hot enough. That depends on ambient room temperature, water temperature, and the surface it is resting on (as well as atmospheric pressure, dew point, and probably a few other things a physical chemist could point out). But I can say that I usually brew for about 5 minutes, and the first mug-full is plenty hot. Depending on how long it takes me to slog that down, the second may or may not be hot enough for me. If not, it only takes a 30-second run in the microwave to bring it up to my desired temp. More technicals on the double wall: This is not a Thermos bottle type carafe. That requires a vacuum seal between the two layers, the principal being that heat is the agitation of air molecules, and if there is no air, there is no heat conduction. This double wall is not vacuum sealed. There is air inside. It seems to provide some additional insulation as compared to a single wall glass pot, but you would have to conduct controlled measurements to be sure. I'm too busy enjoying my coffee to be bothered.

This is a well made and nicely finished French Press and I would give it 5 stars for looks. However, on filling it with hot water it immediately felt warm to the touch which means it is not insulating, and in fact it lost heat as quickly as an non-insulated glass French press. 1 star for that. Buyers beware! Buy for looks not insulating properties.

Its a nice press, however the metal to metal contact of the plunger while pressing down makes an uncomfortable squeaky noise.
