North Spore Organic Golden Oyster Mushroom Growing Kit, 4 lbs

If you've never grown mushrooms before, this is a fun way to start. The company has a great reputation and this kit, and others I've purchased from them, have all worked very well.

I'm very happy with this kit. I've threatened myself with the idea of growing culinary mushrooms for many years, but was intimidated by the sanitation and procedurals associated with it, but now upon reflection I think I may be getting the bug. This kit took the stupid out of me and simplified everything, just cut and water-done deal. I have to confess being a bit alarmed when, after about a week and a half the first head popped out with pins on it, and I thought "hmm". The next few days were even more alarming; I am certain if I sat all day long I would have literally watched these things move they grew so darn fast. I was beginning to wonder if I had invited a transplanetary entity into my home! They were like Aliens, man...they doubled in size the first night of fruiting-QUADRUPLED in mass and volume on the second night, and continued prodigiously for about 5 more nights-I regret not setting a time-lapse camera on it. I just harvested my first fruiting today, threw them in a cast iron with butter, italian seasoning and light salt and THEY WERE SO DELICIOUS alongside the remnants of a wagyu tenderloin roast. I felt like I'd eaten a meal made for a king, and I felt great having successfully brought them to fruit-little though I may have done. I am now coming down with grand visions of going the full-bore route of buying spore kits and utilizing huge containers in my basement at this point. Thanks North Spore-this was an awesome experience. If I wind up going full-bore, I apologize for not buying more of your kits but that may well be because you inspired me on to bigger and better things. :)

At first I was really impressed as it started to grow quickly. Spritzed 2 x a day, then most of it just stopped growing and 2 sprigs got to maybe an inch and they dried up and died too. I did as directed. Very Disappointed.

If you have never tried growing mushrooms from a fruiting block you need to. It's really fun for kids, teenagers, and adults. They grow quickly and taste delicious. It's pretty amazing how fast they are ready to harvest and the fact that you can harvest 3-4 times is even better. After they are done they make great fertilizer for the garden. You'll even have a few mushrooms sprout in the garden for fun.

My grow block was only half colonized. Took a while for fruiting to start but when it did It looked impressive. Within a few days i started to smell a nasty odor. Smelled like pee so I looked that issue up and read to throw it out cause it could make me sick. I don't know what went wrong but these did not work out for me. Hope you have better luck than I did. Culture did not produce as expected

I love these mushroom grow kits. My first flush grew right away and I was eating mushrooms in 2 weeks of starting the kit. The second flush is already starting to grow several weeks later. Lots of fun for a mushroom enthusiast.

As longtime mushroom hunters, my family loves to try new varieties. For Father's Day, my kids gave this to their dad...and we weren't sure it would work well or not. The package arrives as shown, but unfortunately, the moment we picked it up, the entire plastic bagged dirt, broke through the bottom and slid on the floor. Although the bag remained intact, we had to guess how it was originally positioned and hoped for the best. The directions are easy enough to follow. We opened the side of the box, cut a cross in the plastic and squirted two times a day. We placed the box in a room which receives no direct sunlight and opens to the bathroom to make sure the humidity stayed up. At first, we thought it wasn't going to work since various molds started to form (even bluish ones) and were afraid we'd soon need to toss it. But a couple days later, a large white mass grew outward and soon was covered with the mushrooms. So, we're thrilled and enjoying it.

There was an issue with the delivery, and North Spore customer service was able to help promptly and kindly. Great company!
