Due to this his body cannot store protein it just gets washed out with the urine so has to use a protein source to replenish it. It was recommended by his renal consultant that he uses a high protein but must be whey based. He was asked to try this specific one so we ordered it and he loves it. It says to mix with water but he uses skimmed milk and a blender rather than a shaker and it makes it very creamy like a milkshake. One a day is all that’s needed so each packet gives him 16 days worth of protein drinks. Try to make sure that your smoothie is at least 15-20g of protein. You might also want to add extra water due to the thickness create by the fruit. Lastly, a whey shake should always be made with water, but if you add milk or milk alternatives to a smoothie, check the dilution rate and importantly the nutritional changes. The calories can quickly add up.
