Review: I had a hard time installing this. I took off the door to the compactor and laid it flat on a table as I saw they did on the Rachel Ray Video but that was not a good idea. It took me forever to figure out how to disassemble it and then when I started to apply the film it was obvious that it would be much better to apply from an upright position rather than a flat position. I put the door back on and applied a new piece and remembered to spritz it first with water and that helped immensely when I needed to lift it to reposition. It hasn't been sticking well to the sides where I curved it around and I'm worried it will start to lift after a while but so far it isn't all that noticeable, fingers crossed that it stays. I applied it so that the grain runs side to side instead of vertical so as to match my refrigerator's stainless grain. It looks pretty good and the compactor now looks just like the brand new ones they sell today. My compactor is 21 years old. Once you do this, there is no going back IMO as it was incredibly hard to remove when I had to do the first try over again. My only regret is that I wish I had gotten the lighter color of the stainless film. I used the darker version and it looks pretty dark in my kitchen. My Kitchen Aid stainless refrigerator was darker than the light and lighter than the dark film so I just went with the dark thinking it would hide my mistakes better. All in all, I think it looks pretty nice. I have the dishwasher to do next but after the wrestling match with the compactor, I'm putting it off for a while longer.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is the finish a brushed stainless look like most appliances sold in stores or the smooth, shiny stainless look?**
A: It is a brushed finish. It doesn't look like my stainless refrigerator (more grey and less reflective), but it looks pretty good!

**Q: Does the grain go lengthwise on the sheet?**
A: Yes I believe it does. It was awhile ago but I remember cutting for stair risers (kind of a funky application for the product) and I cut to length first and then cut my riser height. Grain goes horizontally on my risers so the grain must have run length wise.

**Q: How do I cut it to fit around ice maker**
A: We didn't put it on our fridge, but for the stove, my husband used an exacto knife. He measured where the opening should be and used the grid on the back.

**Q: Wanting to cover our fridge but the fridge doesn't have a flat, smooth texture.  Would it still work?**
A: Yes the film will cover the textured appliances. It is actually easier to apply when the appliances are textured.

I had a hard time installing this. I took off the door to the compactor and laid it flat on a table as I saw they did on the Rachel Ray Video but that was not a good idea. It took me forever to figure out how to disassemble it and then when I started to apply the film it was obvious that it would be much better to apply from an upright position rather than a flat position. I put the door back on and applied a new piece and remembered to spritz it first with water and that helped immensely when I needed to lift it to reposition. It hasn't been sticking well to the sides where I curved it around and I'm worried it will start to lift after a while but so far it isn't all that noticeable, fingers crossed that it stays. I applied it so that the grain runs side to side instead of vertical so as to match my refrigerator's stainless grain. It looks pretty good and the compactor now looks just like the brand new ones they sell today. My compactor is 21 years old. Once you do this, there is no going back IMO as it was incredibly hard to remove when I had to do the first try over again. My only regret is that I wish I had gotten the lighter color of the stainless film. I used the darker version and it looks pretty dark in my kitchen. I just placed this faux overlay of brushed nickel paper, they say after 5-7 days the bubbles will dissipate. So keeping my fingers crossed. I applied it using the water method, I may have had better luck with the dry not sure so we’ll see. It’s supposed to be guaranteed so we’ll see. If the bubbles go away I’d give it 5 stars. I did struggle with the small edges getting them to stick so far no luck with that so I put something under opening in time it will stick.
