This is the best pillow ever made (forget other reviews!)
Amazon gave a warning that this item is usually returned. Why I had no idea. Yes, the pillow is small, and I bought the Queen size pillow first. Although the Queen size is good, the filling has a way of spreading out so not as much support as the smaller one. I have had surgery (spinal surgery at C2 and C3), and need very strong support with a pillow with thickness. With this pillow, I have no neck pain when sleeping. The value for the money of this item is perfect, with it being even better than the Queen size. Again, the thickness is important, and the raised height is perfect for the neck. People that return this item have not given it a chance. I am glad to see this product is still on the market.

Small but mighty, the only pillow to help my neck pain and let me sleep
Living with Lupus for over 20 years and battling painful neck arthritis, finding the perfect pillow has been an ongoing quest for me. Countless nights of discomfort and restless sleep led me on a frustrating journey of trial and error with various pillows, all ending up in disappointment and wasted money. However, my search finally came to an end when I discovered the Sobakawa Traditional Buckwheat Standard Size Pillow. This is my second time buying this pillow and I am just as happy with my purchase.Living with Lupus brings its own set of challenges, and coupled with my neck arthritis and bone spurs, finding a pillow that could accommodate my specific needs seemed like an impossible task. Many pillows I tried lacked the necessary support, causing more pain and discomfort. What sets this pillow apart is its unique design and filling. The Sobakawa pillow is filled with buckwheat hulls, which conform to the contours of my neck and provide excellent support. The hulls offer just the right balance of firmness and flexibility, allowing my neck to rest in a comfortable and natural position throughout the night. It's worth mentioning that the durability of this pillow is outstanding. Unlike other pillows I've tried, the Sobakawa Buckwheat Pillow maintains its shape and support even after extended use. It has become a reliable companion in my sleep routine, bringing consistent relief night after night. I am just now purchasing my second one after two years of constant use.If you, like me, have spent countless nights searching for the perfect pillow to alleviate neck pain and sleep peacefully, I highly recommend giving the Sobakawa Buckwheat Pillow a try. It may seem small, but its impact is immeasurable. Say goodbye to restless nights and embrace the relief and comfort this amazing pillow brings.

All I've used for 30 years
I've used a Sobakawa pillow for over 30 years. It's important to take care of it, doing a weekly stint on a rack in the dryer (if you have that available) and replacing it every five years or so. I can't imagine sleeping on anything else. It's comfortable and keeps you cool. Or more accurately, it keeps you from overheating in the way that conventional pillows do for me. I shudder to think what my neck and back would be like now if I hadn't discovered this pillow. Granted, those who are predominantly back sleepers don't actually need pillows, but if you use one it needs to be good. I've tried other brands and they have always come up short. This is the only one for me.

Great pillow if you have neck pain
I have had problems with waking up with crik in my neck or just cannot get comfortable with standard pillows. I’ve spent a lot of money on memory foam pillows which are fine but after 3 months they lose their memory or become too squishy. I have been using the buckwheat pillows for about 12 yrs. I replace it every year or two. It supports my neck and head well all night. It does take a night or two to get used to it because it’s smaller than standard pillow. I like the smaller one verses the larger ones that are available. The best way to use, for me is to lay it on the bed, making sure the buckwheat is distributed evenly. Then when I lay down, I move my head back and forth, making a cradle like depression. I will never use a fluffy pillow again and I always pack it in my suitcase when I go on trips. It is heavy but not any heavier than a memory pillow. Try it, you will have the best sleep and no sore neck. You can also sleep on your side, if you are a side sleeper. Sweet dreams!!

Not great in my opinion :)
This pillow has 1000s of seemingly great reviews, and great! Most of my reviews are 5 stars so I just want to offer a different and realistic perspective for this pillow. I have had neck pain for maybe a month but I think it was related to my crappy bed which was shaped like a canoe, and actually the manufacturer just refunded my money as it qualified as a defect, but after about a 1.5 years on this horrible bed, I was left with residual neck pain, so started thinking I needed a new pillow too, and tried a few and maybe I'm just super picky and a stomach/side sleeper... oh I'm 51 and in great shape though, anyway I saw the reviews and thought this might do the trick... wellll.... it's about the oddest pillow ever, filled with beads (husks) seems more like a bean bag, but what's worse is it's loud if you put your ear on it (stomach sleeper or side) it sounds like you're sleeping on a bag of Doritos and feels about the same. It is very firm and not comfortable in my opinion. The best thing about it is it immediately made me realize how great my down pillow was! lol Congratulations to the manufacturers on all the success and I'm glad it helps a lot of people, but my 'husk' pillow will be returned to the husk pile lol
