Review: Excellent Reformed Study Bible for personal devotions and family worship. - Excellent Study Bible for personal and family devotions. Although I will read certain modern translations of the Bible, I prefer the KJV because it was the first Protestant Translation I ever owned (having been born into a Roman Catholic family) and because I read the Douay Rheims translation in the Bishop Challoner revision. I rather like the use of "thou" and "You" rather than the modern grammatical simplification of the English language for scripture reading because using both denotes whether intimacy or formality is indicated by the scripture passage. Of course, I don't speak or write this way. I also own the ESV translation which is used for The Lutheran Study Bible, a copy of the NASB translation, and also the NKJV which is used for the New Testament in the Orthodox Study Bible. I still own a copy of the Challoner's revision of the Douay Rheims. Why did I pick the Reformation Heritage Study Bible over Reformation Study Bible published by Ligonier Ministries? They are both excellent study Bibles. Both would receive 5 Star ratings from me. In fact, several years ago I purchased an earlier edition of the Reformation Study Bible, which I ended up giving to someone who needed a bible. The Reformation Study Bible is an excellent study bible for students especially. The newer edition has even better commentary than the previous edition, and includes the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith in edition to the creeds and confessions included in the Reformation Heritage Study Bible. The latest edition of the Reformation Study Bible is the result of improvements going back to the New Geneva Bible. The Reformation Study Bible has withstood the test of time. Yet, the Reformation Heritage Study Bible has features that make it attractive for family worship and devotional study. At the end of each chapter of each book of the Bible there is a section called Thoughts for Personal / Family Worship. This helps to stimulate meditation and contemplation of the chapter that has just been studied. A similar feature exists in The Lutheran Study Bible. Also, the topical articles in the Reformation Heritage Study Bible appear to be more for family devotional study. Thus, the Reformation Heritage Study Bible is designed to meet the needs of the New Christian or a family, while the Reformation Study Bible is designed for the advanced student. For those who don't want to deal with modern Bible translations, where there is a need to engage modern Higher Criticism, the Reformation Heritage Study Bible offers the traditional KJV translation. If finances allow, I do intend to eventually purchase the Reformed Study Bible NKJV edition that will be available next month from Ligonier, but for me personally, the Reformation Heritage Study Bible KJV translation is one I regularly use. Review: Best study bible ever - This is the best king James study bible l've ever seen before, it has everything you could want in a study bible, it has notes at the end of each chapter to help father's or other head's of households to pray and lead their families in family bible study, it also has all of the Refomed creeds and confessions along with the the early church creeds, a must have for any true bible student, if you are a conservative Christian please buy this bible you won't regret it.

Excellent Study Bible
When I first opened this study Bible, I was a little disappointed that there aren't as many notes as others. But after reading it, I can see that the authors focused on quality (which is excellent) over quantity. The study notes provide an orthodox Reformed view and helpful explanations for any archaic sayings in the King James Version. The reflection questions are thought-provoking. I also love that the main Reformed confessions and catechisms (with Scripture proofs!) are in the back, which will make using these study tools much easier. This is a well-made Bible too. The cover is quality. The pages are a little thin (but the tiny bleed through is not distracting or too much), and the type is easy to read. Also, I never realized how helpful two ribbons were until I started using them. All in all, this has replaced the ESV Reformation Study Bible as my main study Bible. I look forward to profiting from it in the years to come.

To God be the glory!
Great timing of get this study bible before thanksgiving. This RHSB is perfect for devotional Bible reading! I have ESVSB, NIVSB, and RSB. I compare all comments on Mt6:31-34 in these four study bibles. I like the comment of RHSB the best. Although it's only a few verses, we could get a hint. Also, after every chapter, RHSB has a Thoughts for Personal/Family worship session. I like this the most!! If you use M'Cheyne' reading plan, this bible is the one you need. It includes some articles about different theology topics, a basic systematic theology preview. It will be a great help for personal study. A brief chur history, creeds and confessions are included at the end of the book. If you believe the Bible is the word of God and like the old puritans' teaching, get this Bible! You won't regret. If you want to find a bible for devotion, get it. That's what it's for. One thing you need to know is that there's no cross link system. However, I believe enough cross bible cites in the comments.

Review of the, “The Reformation Heritage KJV Study Bible in Genuine Leather.
Review of the, “The Reformation Heritage KJV Study Bible in Genuine Leather. I requested a review copy quite some time ago, and was refused. This is why it has taken a while for me to do a review of this Bible. Recently I purchased a copy, at my own expense for the purpose of review. I was curious about this Bible because of the title. I am a Reformed Baptist. I hold to reformed soteriology. Since I affirm believer’s baptism, or credal baptism, I cannot be said to have Reformed theology proper, as that would include infant baptism, or paedo-baptism along with some other theological distinctions. This Bible came shipped by Amazon in a cardboard box with no padding. One of the corners of the retail clamshell box was dented. The Bible inside was undamaged. When I first examined the Bible I didn’t notice that some of the pages were folded under and failed to be trimmed with the text block. I had to trim them myself with an exacto knife. I contacted Reformation Heritage by e-mail. It has been several weeks without a response. I was waiting to do the review because part of my e-mail had to do with questions about this Bible’s manufacture. I wouldn’t let their failure to respond stop you from purchasing this Bible. This edition has a genuine cowhide leather cover and not pigskin leather. On the front cover, “Holy Bible” is hot stamped in gold color foil. The texture of the leather seems to be natural and comfortable to hold. this is a case bound Bible. It is not as high grade as some, but far exceeds many lesser quality covers on Bibles in the same price range. This Bible lists for about $80.00, but I purchased it on sale for $55.88 from Amazon. You would be hard pressed to find a study Bible with all of the features this Bible has for the same price. We are talking about an American printed and bound Bible with smyth-sewn spine, cowhide leather cover, unique study notes, creeds and confessions, notes on family application, and numerous articles in back along with a concise concordance and maps. This Bible is only available in the King James Version. (KJV) It is a verse format, double column, layout with notes at the bottom of the page. Before each book is an introduction and outline of the book. A sharply printed and uniformly inked 9.8 pt. Minion Font is used for the text of the Bible, and 8 pt. Myriad SemiCondensed Font for the notes is employed. The page margins are pretty small, so you won’t be making many notations in them. The page edges are gold gilt. The corners are rounded, the spine is not. Since this Bible employs a sewn binding it lays flat without having to fight the binding or cover. It is pretty flexible. There are gold and burgundy head and tail bands as well as two narrow yet, substantial black ribbons. The ribbons are both fixed in the spine at the same place making them a bit awkward compared to others that are glued in differently. I truly like the paper used for the presentation/records section in the front and the maps in the back. RHB made the best decision of not using the glossy papers that crack. Instead they went with a thicker matte paper that will last a long time. I would have liked to see a thicker, more opaque paper employed, however, to include all of the features in one volume without making it a behemoth like the ESV study Bible, I can understand why the chose the paper they did. Don’t misunderstand me, the paper isn’t bad. It is just a little less opaque than I would like. Ghosting isn’t bad at all and it appears that line matching was employed. For the money, there aren’t many full study Bibles on the market that could compete with this one. I highly recommend this Bible if you are a fan of the KJV, and historic creeds and confessions. It is an all around solid study Bible. ISBN: 9781601783264

Get this for the Family Worship Notes!!
About 15 years ago I was listening to a sermon by Alan Cairns where he challenged Mike Barrett to issue a study Bible which updates and explains archaic words and phrases from the KJV. I am thankful that Joel Beeke brought Barrett on board to make that request a reality! As the name implies, the notes are from a reformed and covenantal perspective. Before this, I had not been able to find a KJV Study Bible that was not dispensation in nature. The "Notes for Family Worship" alone is worth the price of the book. If you have not seen a sample yet, at the end of each chapter the editors have one or two application paragraphs under "Notes for Family Worship." These are tremendous. I have bought the hardback and the kindle version. I enjoy both equally. I have been using this as my daily study Bible since purchasing it and have not been disappointed a single day. It is edifying, encouraging, challenging, and convicting.

Highest recommendations !
This is a great study Bible. We have too many study Bibles these days and it is difficult to pick and choose among them. However, the Reformation Heritage Study Bible (in Dollaro Leather which is actually Calf Split leather) is among the very best. It has a conservative approach to understanding the Bible and uses the timeless and beloved KJV version (difficult and archaic KJV words are explained in the appropriate study notes). The study notes are ample and very useful. It also has many additional materials such as How to live a Christian life, Church Creeds, Church history, etc.. The size is also quite manageable for a 2000 page Study Bible and it is beautifully made. It arrives in plastic shrink wrap inside a protective cardboard box. This Bible has 2 black ribbons. Go for it if you are on the lookout for a solid conservative study Bible which will last you for years. Highest recommendations !

This Bible is a gold mine for me!
I use this (kindle) Bible every day (God willing). Good explanations for almost every Bible verse! Short summaries with reflections on each chapter. All important doctrines are given separate attention. For example, a piece by William Perkins on election. Until now, he was an unknown Puritan to me, but his explanation is very beautiful and biblical. All in all, this Bible is a gold mine for me! All honour and glory to our Lord Jesus Christ!

Nice leather cover
Nice bible. Even though it is a paste down the leather is so supple that it has the feeling of an edge-lined premium bible. The gold page guilding is not as pronounced as a new version of this bible but I knew that I was buying a new-used bible (see picture: this one is the top heritage reformed study bible compared to a new vachetta heritage reformed study bible on the bottom). Still worth the price. This bible has a lot of useful study notes and every time I am reading through and don’t understand a KJV word an alternative definition almost always appears in the footnote.
