These work great if you temper them first! I've got four.
Have had four good barrels (a 2L and 3 5Ls). Make sure you prep it when you receive it! I see some people complaining about leaky barrels, and I'm sure it happens, but so far we've had no problems at all. I bought the barrel wax, but so far it's completely wasted. Just make sure that when you get it you put the spout in (and make sure it's closed, far left or right), then fill the keg with boiling water and put the top cork in! This is 'tempering' and will make the oak swell to prevent leaks. If it's leaking after a couple hours (when the wood has had time to swell) then it's time to deploy the barrel wax. If that still doesn't work you might have a bad keg (hasn't happened with these for me, cross fingers). Then when you're ready to use it (after at least a day tempering), remove the spout, pop the top cork, then flip it upside down and let it drain from the 'top', just because that has a larger hole. There will be a lot of charred oak shards, which is fine! This just shows your good stuff is in contact with charred wood. If you go a long time before you use it again and the inside dries out, you might consider re-tempering it before you use it.

Make sure the Spicket is closed. The barrel doesnโt leak.
OK, hereโs something. Everyone should know this is a pretty great product in order for it to work. You have to do two things first step one immerse the entire barrel and water for one hour. If you wanna make sure it doesnโt leak allow two hours soak time once youโve soaked it rinse it. It is already got a wonderful oak smell, and in order to make the wine more delicious so the recommendation is donโt spoil the gift. Iโve heard other people complain about this product but likely they didnโt pre-soak the barrel for lengthy enough time in order for the wood to expand, and or they got the product and allowed it to sit without anything inside of it for too long a time, allowing the barrel to dry out it is important not to allow the barrel to dry out as it will shrink. If the barrel has left too long with nothing inside of it, this will cause it to shrink. The barrel is meant always to have liquid inside of it and the barrel is meant to swell with wine this tightening the rings and preventing leakage. The product is for wine and Brandy whiskey or what other beverages are placed inside I got my barrel for wine making I tested it filled with water. Let it soak or sit there for almost 5 hours when I was sure it would not leak. I filled it with wine. It has been a day and 1/2 and there are zero leaks so I wanted to come and I wanted to leave this review for anyone who is considering this product first also you should know that this is a test barrel. This is not a full-size wine barrel. It is a test barrel to taste a little bit of the product without having to get air in a larger Batch. so for anyone whoโs considering this product I would say itโs a definite buy. Also I would recommend pre-soaking test of just water before you put any of your favorite drink inside. If it doesnโt spill out within 24 hours you did it right I think itโs a fantastic product would like morehand crafted products like this. Its durable rusticly charming. Great for small batches of sample wine. as far as the Spicket goes, make sure that it is tightly turned and tightly closed, and there should be no leaking once I adjusted the Spicket. There was no leaks at all something to be aware of double check after using it that youโve returned the Spicket or return the nozzle so that is closed and you wonโt have any leaks. I waited 24 hours I checked again. There were no leaks Spicket completely dry so this is why Iโm recommending. Donโt miss out on this product. Itโs a good product.

Leaks!
I bought this for my dad as a gift. He was creating a forever barrel of whiskey for a few months. The barrel leaked and he lost all the whiskey that he poured into it. So not only are we out the money we spent on the barrel but also the cost of lots of good quality whiskey too.

Quality barrel in my experience so far.
4.5 stars is what i want to give this, but is not an option from mobile. Barrel came in great shape. The instuctions, stand, spigot, and bung were included as described. The only item I did not find was the disolvable tablet for the first curing; on a side note the stand could be sturdier as well but it is functional. Cured with water for the first five days as instructed and saw little to no leaks. Didnt even have to use the barrel wax. Recently filled for first true aging; may update again later. Overall for first review I am pleased with the quality of the craftsmanship of the barrel itself.

Perfect for liquor or beer!
Light and sturdy little keg. I purchased it not to make whiskey as itโs intended but to hold a 5L keg of beer for Renaissance Faires and it works perfectly. The natural cask appearance makes it perfect to disguise beer for that period correct look. I lined mine with wax to prevent the beer from soaking into the wood and festering but the keg comes pre charred to give your whiskey that distinct smoked oak taste.

So far so good.
So far so good. Has instructions how to get barrel ready for whatever your trying to age. I had to fill it a few times and drain it to get wood particles out. it says use boiling water to cure and get wood swelling to seal any cracks I just use very hot tap water. Poured it inside 4 hr later emptied it, and did the same thing over. Put it in a deep glass baking dish. Only reason im doing that is to see if any leaks and not get water everywhere if it does. I am yet to get a leak. 18hrs later. it Keeps absorbing the water in the wood Swelling it. So I keep adding water to the top when needed. i'm going to add my liquor soon. It says 24-48 hrs to cure stop leaking but mine never leaked ill Put it in my cool/ cold dark basement after i fill it with some store bought moonshine 100 proof like they say to do And I'll update when done. In 3-4 weeks it says.

Loving it.
I engraved it with a logo and have been aging different whiskeys for a few months and loving each version. Highly suggest it. Note: I age 1 liter (2 liter barrel) at a time due to my low volume as of now.

Decent barrel. Spigot was my only issue.
Love this barrel. It's really been great for letting various things age (tequila, moonshine, beer, etc.). My only complaint is that the spigot leaks over time. Eventually, the knob fell off, which leads me to understand that the glue / adhesive isn't very good. Going to have to try to gorilla glue it back on.

Run AWAY!!!!!!!
Run away. I received 2 x 1ltr casks. The spigot are proven not working as they use cheap glue to fix the wood part with the metallic part. I had to spend USD10 to buy proper epoxy and do their job. Their only solution ... = Nothing. Cause they can't see my order. Poor kiddo!!! Can trust these people!!!

Oak barrel
Barrel looks great but even after pre soaking for 4 days the tap leaks badly and the stand is just plywood.

Had to throw it away
I keep it in water like all the reviews said. The water turned purple and stinky and the metal parts started peeling off. It was so stinking that I had to throw it away
