It DOES appear as if they can be taken apart once the screw and nut is removed though. **Q: Where is it made?** A: These scissors are designed in the United States, and the factory is located in China. Some American employees in charge of quality control at the factory. **Q: Can the blades be separated (for sharpening)?** A: Yes the blades can be separated. Use small-sized spanner, unscrew the nut, then it can be separated.
