Was getting ready to return it when I discovered there are 2 types of Micro-USB cables. One can only be used to charge devices. The other can charge and send data. The first two cables that I tried did absolutely nothing. It was the third cable I tried that Windows made the noise of a new device and it connected! And now I'm successfully using it for a project.
