This works better than I thought it might, but the pitch on a couple of the "tines" is off. I can use it for students as a motivating novelty, briefly, but wouldn't want to train their ears this way. The sound is pretty good for its size. Any age range could do this--easy to use--except maybe preschoolers. It fits as you see, right in the palm, so can go anywhere.

This little Kalimba has a great sound. I keep it on my desk and find myself reaching for it often to play with it.

This is a fun little thing to pass some time when just sitting being bored. The sounds are louder if you have longer nails. My nails are woefully short and fingertips make the sound a bit muffled. I still have a nice time picking out melodies. I would buy it again - but a bit cautious for gift-giving.

THIS WAS SO GOOD. I wanted to keep it for myself because it was a present to my section leader for orchestra but couldn’t. It came with songs to learn as swell which I loved because she started playing it asap lol. Worth it for sure.

I got this as a Christmas present for my husband. He's a very musical person - constantly whistling, and has played several instruments. He has Czech ancestry, and there's a popular saying in their culture: 'Every Czech, a musician'. He was really excited to learn about this instrument, and I was happy to be able to surprise him with an instrument he'd never heard of. He keeps it on his nightstand and plays it fairly regularly. It sounds very pretty, despite being very small.

Bought as a really cute whimsical stocking stuffer for my daughter. It’s well made, I only deducted one star because one prong is out of tune which I’m sure we can fix.
