Recommended for ages 8 and up, it features a dense flywheel and durable construction made in the USA, perfect for educational environments and nostalgic collectors alike. ## Description desertcart.com The gyroscope is such a simple idea that it's tempting for toy manufacturers to make them cheaply. But the cheaply made ones usually don't have a dense flywheel or good bearings--and they don't work. The Chandler is a delightful exception: all-metal and precision made, it also comes with a simple instruction sheet that contains a number of tricks you probably wouldn't have thought of. A great toy for children and physicists of all ages. Parental supervision will be necessary to avoid frustration for children under 6: these things don't work unless you get them to spin fast. --Richard Farr Product Description Original TEDCO Gyroscope/Nostalgic Pak From the Manufacturer Hand-crafted, precision gyroscope. Review: Buy it! - Bought for my fiancé for Valentine’s Day. Works perfect and is a good size. It’s self explanatory on how to use but comes with instructions. The price is good and it spins perfectly and for a long time. It’s not loud like some others I have seen. Review: Well designed and constructed, but a little bit fragile - This is a quality made product. It worked ok. The first two spins went well. On the third spin it got away from me as I was placing it on its stand, it raced across the table and fell to the floor, my fault not Tedco's. The fall to the floor must have bent some part of the metal a little, because now it is too wobbly to stay upright while spinning. I had hoped to use this gyroscope to test how its axis of rotation changes when a magnet is brought near to it. Those plans are now on hold. ## Features - 🔹 Key Features 🌀 Teaches gyroscopic motion, inertia, and balance 🧠 Perfect for STEM learning, focus, and fine motor development 🧵 Includes durable metal gyroscope, pedestal, and string 🧰 Frame includes a functional break for reassembly—not a defect 🎓 Great for homes, classrooms, science fairs, and offices 🇺🇸 Proudly made in the USA 👧🧒 Recommended for ages 8 and up ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B00000IU7S | | Age Range Description | Youth | | Best Sellers Rank | #94,536 in Toys & Games ( See Top 100 in Toys & Games ) #849 in Educational Science Kits | | Brand Name | TEDCO | | Color | Multi | | Customer Reviews | 3.9 out of 5 stars 1,214 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00043067001009 | | Included Components | Original TEDCO Gyroscope/Nostalgic Pak | | Item Dimensions | 2.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 inches | | Item Type Name | Original TEDCO Gyroscope/Nostalgic Pak | | Item Weight | 1.6 ounces | | Manufacturer | Tedco Toys | | Manufacturer Part Number | 00100 | | Manufacturer recommended age | 8 years and up | | Material Type | Plastic | | Model Number | TEDO-FBA-00100 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Packs | 1 | | Size | Small | | Sub Brand | Planes | | Subject Character | Gyroscope | | Theme | educational/science/physics | | UPC | 787551154955 885807011172 609463074018 848296085789 793631103096 043067001009 | ## Images ![Classic Gyroscope, Nostalgic Carton, Metal STEM Toy Since 1917 - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61idnNsxyPL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: How long does it spin for after string pull?** A: Depends on how hard you pull the string without breaking the string. It can spin for about 30 seconds or so would be my best guess. **Q: Is Vertical Outer ring welded properly or has gap which produces vibration and noise at high speed?** A: The vertical outer ring is not welded together, and it does make a loud noise at high speeds. However, the small gap makes it easier to fix if the spinning piece falls out. **Q: Does it come with the stand** A: Yes it does. It is black, not red. **Q: Does the gyroscope include the string ?** A: Yes, the string is included, but any strong, thin string would work. What is disappointing to me is the quality of the construction which is not at a par with similar gyroscopes manufactured in the past. The gyroscope I received works, but barely, and has an unstable vibration that greatly diminishes the spinning time and strength of the gyroscopic effect. The frame that encircles the spinning wheel has a break in it, supposedly for stability adjustment, but the fact is the precision and quality reflect the low price. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Buy it! *by T***2 on May 27, 2025* Bought for my fiancé for Valentine’s Day. Those plans are now on hold. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ really neat toy *by A***I on February 2, 2012* I bought this for my boys (ages 13 and 11) as one of a few "stocking stuffer" type toys for Christmas. They both enjoy it. The best way to learn how to use it, is to look on YouTube for videos. After we saw a vido, it was much clearer how to really get it spinning. Both boys enjoyed showing their friends this toy. It's different. Not all kids have one of these at home. I'm very glad I purchased it. ## Frequently Bought Together - Original TEDCO Gyroscope Nostalgic Spinning Science Toy - The Original Slinky Walking Spring Toy, 2.75-inch Diameter Metal Slinky, Fidget Toys --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.sn/products/1664012-classic-gyroscope-nostalgic-carton-metal-stem-toy-since-1917](https://www.desertcart.sn/products/1664012-classic-gyroscope-nostalgic-carton-metal-stem-toy-since-1917) --- *Product available on Desertcart Senegal* *Store origin: SN* *Last updated: 2026-10-25*
