Vet's Best Dog Pain Relief Supplement, Dog Aspirin Alternative, 150 ct

I am currently only giving my elderly dog vitamins and olive oil. I noticed she began having pains which caused concern because of her age. I’ve purchased items in the past of this brand so I began doing some research. Didn’t want to spend a whole lot of money if I could avoid it,but definitely had to get her in a better state. Amazon is my “go to” for basically everything,so here I am. As far as the signs I noticed with her,she started whining and limping. I noticed she couldn’t get comfortable on her bed and as she was trying to she fell over. She’s never been a whiner and I’ve had her since a baby,she’s almost 20 now. She’s completely blind,slight hearing problem and toothless. Age has taken a toll on her,but outside of that she still gets a clean bill of health from the Vet. I wouldn’t dare put her down unless she was in pain and have given up on eating . She has a great appetite,she know what she does and doesn’t want from sniffing her food and treats. She’ll still roll over and play when she hear me pull her toys out. She’s still very alert. She has learned how to get around the house without any issues,the other pets in the house respect her space. I have her 8 year old son too and she’s never been too social with any of the other pets in the house. Even when she could see. She’s just always been up under me ❤️. So now about these pills!!!! PEOPLE they are AMAZING!!! Yes,they work!!!! I am so happy!! Today is day 3 and honestly yesterday I noticed her limp was gone. She’s back to her usual self and I’m so so happy that she is! I am very hands on with her because of her age and other things. She doesn’t even have a slight limp. They are huge as well as hard and she’s a cocker-pug mix with no teeth so I had to smash it and sprinkle it in her food. I have a cold right now so I don’t know if they have a strong odor ,but she did not eat her food after I put the pill in it. I had to add just a small bit of a topper on top of the already crushed pill to cover the smell if there is one. I’m assuming so because initially she sniffed and didn’t touch it. She only has her smell to go off of. That worked and she cleaned her bowl per usual which means the pill was successfully digested as well! The results definitely showed! The pills came same day delivery and very good price for the bottle. They were sealed and appeared to be fresh. Just keep in mind that they are hard and rather big. I can’t see any dog just wanting to chew it by itself,but I’m not certain. Find a way because they are great pills!! Fyi….she is under 50 lbs and so I gave her one pill a day. I’ll continue for about two more days then stop until there comes a point where she’ll need them again. Also,it did not change her poop at all. I am a very happy customer,apologies for the long review.

My dog still doesn't eat these tablets as-is. However, they are insanely effective if I grind them into a powder and add it to the homemade treats I bake. Her inflammation and pain is almost eliminated with these ingredients. I highly recommend these, even if you have to sneak them into something else!

My aging spaniel-setter has definitely started getting creaky in her last year or so, and as such we have been trying out a number of supplements to help her hips and shoulder - which have bothered her the most that we can tell. This product is mild, but when taken regularly (2-4 pills a day) seems to make a difference in that we get less protesting about daily activities - getting up to go potty, get on the bed, etc. - and less groaning when she lies there, feeling not so good. Now she isn't constantly groaning in pain, if she were we would look to professional methods, but she has good and bad days sometimes according to something like a rainstorm or cold night. Something I would like to note is that we have been giving her these for over a year now, and at one point I had bought a bulk supply to have on hand, since the price was right. Our dog gobbled those up like they were liver snaps. She came to look excited to hear the rattle of the bottle (same as most dogs do with the crinkle of a wrapper) and would crunch and then swallow these treats. The last batch we got had a slightly different bottle, and the pill was slightly more contoured (I think), and well, she heard the rattle, sat down excitedly, took the pill in her mouth and promptly spat it out. My dog is not terribly picky. Never has been. So I got out another to see if that one was "bad" and she spat that one out, too. Since I had gotten a couple bottles I thought, "Maybe I got a bad one..." and popped open the second one, handed her one of the pills and PATOOEY! She spit it out. I don't have the old bottle to compare what difference they made to these pills as to make them less palatable, if anything. I mean, perhaps my dog decided they were suddenly gross, since it isn't as though I can ask her, "Hey, lady, you just tired of these now?". At any rate, we have a workaround that allows us to feed these to her for the pain reduction, and it is to crunch one or two up with each of her two daily meals. Since her meals are regular, and also have good kibble, a smooshed liver snap treat and water - basically to make sure she ALWAYS wants to eat as she has diabetes and needs to eat so she can have shots at certain intervals - she basically gobbles it all right up with this method. So, again, I don't know what the manufacturer did recently to possibly make these less palatable, but it was enough to make me create this review and to deduct a single star. That said, if your dog is okay with these, or you can also get around the taste being bad by adding them to other treats or meals, this is a good product to help manage old dog creaks and pains. UPDATE 07/27/2016: We just resupplied and inexplicably our pooch will eat these by hand again. I still find it convenient to leave the bottle by our "din-din" area with all her supplements and I just mash it up and she eats it along with her kibble, pumpkin/cranberry concoction, glucosamine/chondroitin and vitamin C. Also wanted to add, this stuff works. It especially works if fed like a supplement - a small but regular dose every day. When we don't give her this for awhile, we notice she will eventually get creaky and grunty again. Add it back to the mix and within a week or so she is right as rain again. I like that it is a bit more natural/gentle than getting a synthetic pain pill from the vet.

I can’t believe how well this has been working for my 10 year old terrier mix. One day he stopped jumping up on the couch, wouldn’t jump up on the bed, and seemed to be struggling to get up the stairs. I couldn’t pin point anywhere he seemed to be having pain when I touched him. I ordered these in hopes it might help if it was arthritis pain starting to creep in. Within a day he was back to his usual self, running and jumping around. Then one day I forgot to give him one of these and he started to struggle again. Now I’ve been giving him one a day, and he’s running around and jumping as if he was a puppy again. I couldn’t be more pleased with this product!

I have been meaning to review this product for months and kept forgetting. We got these for my 8 year old English setter who was diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia last year. He would take a long time just going from laying to sitting or sitting to standing and struggled to go upstairs. After we started this supplement we saw a huge improvement within a week or two. He makes position changes instantly now without the struggle and acts like his old self. The improvement in his joints happened so quick, I am so thankful we tried these because they work amazing. I just toss one in his food bowl for each meal and he eats it that way because he doesn’t mind the taste.

CAUTION Don’t use if your dog has liver issues. I’ve used this with my dog for a year or so. It works! However, now our dog has liver issues. Our vet has told us this is dangerous for dogs with liver problems. Not saying this causes it. Our dog is 14, so age does these things. But be aware.

This is a great product. It really works. My dog has stenosis and sometimes he can’t use his back legs. Once I started giving him this medicine, the inflammation and pain subsided and he’s able to go on walks and essentially be pain-free. I have been using this product with my dog for over a year and he hasn’t had any relapses.

Update as of February 2023: STILL WORKS GREAT. Dog is having her annual slipped disc issue, brought out this product. I give her one whole thing (which is twice the recommended dose!), she's alert and sort of active within about an hour. It's still not a miracle cure, but this supplement works SO WELL. I'll honestly cry if you guys ever stop making them. Original review follows. My dog is prone to slipping discs, leading to pain and partial paralysis. This last time it happened the week before Christmas - so Christmas combined with the not fantastic financial situation 2020 left us in meant we didn't have anything left over for an expensive vet bill and treatment (I highly recommend electro-acupuncture if anyone in your area can do it, by the way). So I took a chance on this product, with its good reviews and low price. And, it worked! It was a huge struggle for the first two weeks, getting her to actually eat the tablets. She's very suspicious when she's in pain, and even my usual strategy of just shoving the pills and tablets into a glob of peanut butter stopped working. My brute force method of just putting it in her mouth and trying to force her to swallow was annoying and time consuming. Eventually I figured out to just hand her the tablet like it's a treat, and she just takes it and doesn't spit it out that way. She wasn't better immediately, but she got better a lot faster than she did when she was on 3 very expensive medications prescribed by the vet the first time she went limp. I started her on one half at breakfast and one half at night (small dog, so the smallest dosage), and then upped to a whole tablet at breakfast and a whole one at night (instructions do say you can double the dosage in extreme cases). She got better quickly, I went back to the half and half, and now I'm just doing one half of a tablet a day for maintenance! So, it works! Only complaint is her pee smells like whatever's in these tablets, but it's not like dog pee usually smells great anyway.

Early days yet. My 14 year old Cavvy Charlie-Brown still just shuffling along. But he appears to be more active. Maybe wishful thinking. But I can see some benefit.
