Kingston HyperX FURY 8GB Kit (2x4GB) 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM - Red (HX318C10FRK2/8)

First things first. The shipping (because the shipping is obviously a critical part of the Amazon experience). I ordered this from antonline because their feedback seemed so overwhelmingly positive. I didn't really expect the shipping to be all that fast (especially for free shipping) and it wasn't. It took several days. Which is not terrible (in the context of the fact that Amazon orders seem to be taking longer and longer these days). The problem was the tracking. It was fairly accurate in when it said it was going to be here but it was also pretty vague. For a few days, it just said "Shipped" and "In transit" or something like that. I had no clue where it shipped from or where on earth it was. I could only use the vague estimate of "It'll probably be there sometime between these five days" to try and know when to be ready for it. And I mean, let's be honest here. This isn't a pack of socks. This is a delicate computer part. It's not terribly expensive but it's 40 bucks. It's not the kind of thing you want to play around with. Well, OK. So, at the end, it took about 4 days and Amazon's tracking info didn't really give me any specific details of exactly where it was until the very last day when it was out for delivery. If I hadn't been home that day, I would have obviously missed the delivery. SO......the product itself? Seems fine. I'm not super knowledgeable about RAM or specs or any of that. But here is my basic system (for reference). Motherboard - Gigabyte G1 Sniper A88X (With the latest F11 BIOS) APU - AMD A10 7860K Samsung 850 Evo SSD Seasonic 550 watt Gold PSU The memory I was replacing was 6 gigs of generic Kingston 1600 RAM that came with a system I bought years ago. Much was made of the fact that you should just be able to pop this HyperX Fury in and have your BIOS change all the settings for you. Which is true (kinda). It did indeed show up as 1866 RAM as soon as I rebooted. However, I wasn't all that sure I was getting better performance. In fact, something about the system seemed a bit laggy. I thought this was probably just my imagination but I started looking around in the BIOS. I noticed the Northbridge frequency was set at 1600. I started doing some benchmarks just to see if I could see any performance drop and I did notice that it said the RAM was slower than it should be. I debated whether or not to risk raising the northbridge frequency as I had heard somewhere that it should be at least equal to your RAM speed. I don't know where I read that and couldn't find it again when I was looking for it. But I finally tried it and the benchmark scores definitely went up for the RAM. So I can only assume that you will not get the advertised speed out of this RAM if your northbridge frequency remains at 1600 (Someone please comment on this and let me know if I'm right or wrong here). Of course this site I was using for benchmarks was comparing my scores to those everyone else was getting with the same RAM. It is likely most of those people were overclocking their systems to the max. Still, the RAM scores I was getting right out of the gate were well below what seemed normal and they jumped considerably when I changed the northbridge to 1900. I even tried reloading the optimized defaults for my motherboard so the BIOS would automatically choose the settings for the APU and RAM. The northbridge frequency auto set itself to 1600 on this MB. So I don't really know if this is correct to change this setting. Don't take my word for it because I don't know anything, really. Just that I got significantly better scores when I changed the freauency. I did not change the frequency for the RAM, as I wanted to see if the northbridge setting seemed to be the bottleneck and it appears to be.

All around perfect ram. 8gb should be fine for the next few years, but I am definitely getting another set of these when I need to upgrade. I am using the s340 white case and this looks AMAZINGLY clean in it. I think that is one of my favorite things about this ram, it doesn't look "tactical" or junky, but rather just clean. Really, if you are going for that case get this ram. I am not too sure about the speed of the ram, but from what I've read, its compares with most other ram around this common price (pretty fast). I have had no issues with the ram, plug in play too. Overall, I really recommend this ram.

Excellent memory. At this point, just about all memory is fast enough, so it's about finding stuff that is from a reputable manufacture, meets your performance/fitment requirements, and looks good. This Kingston HyperX is great. The pricing is now about on par with some of the cheaper memory out there, and performs with some of the best. I have my old i7 920 running at 3.9Ghz with this stuff. If you need DDR3 memory, whether you're just looking to replace some failed junk, looking to upgrade, or starting fresh, no matter what your intent behind the machine, I recommend this memory.

This is my second set of this particular ram, i got it to finish up an fx-8350 build. Its ram, its non-ecc, it works. If it were 20$ cheaper it would get a 5 star rating, but no ones perfect and everyone has to make a buck. Note: this stuff only works on mobos that support 1866 memory. You can clock the ram down, but if you are running an oem board and it takes something like 1333 mhz and doesnt have adjustment for ram in the bios, it wont work. Make sure this is the speed you need!!! Also there isnt a real noticable difference between this stuff and 1600 mhz ddr3. The only difference ive seen is with overclocking and its not really that noticeable.

It's RAM, right? Right, but there are still a few things that can be said about this set. It has a very nice appearance with the shade of blue that the heat spreaders are, and it goes very well with my motherboard's color scheme (MSI PC Mate). Speaking of the heat spreaders, they don't appear to be oversized so hopefully I am able to install an aftermarket cooler without any issues involving clearances. After installation, it was very easy to go into my BIOS and check on their speed and voltage. I have it set for 1866MHz with no performance issues. I do plan on purchasing another set soon and it will be this brand. Definitely recommend it for those looking for quality RAM from a trusted brand.

I feel like Kinston's HyperX Fury ram is very underrated. Everyone like to go ga-ga over Corsair Vengeance stuff (and I have 4 sticks of low profile vengeance stick myself), but I feel like this HyperX Fury ram is as good if not a little better. There's no green ram plastic showing for instance, and the basic black and white letting is VERY stylish. The ram also set itself to 1866 on the Asus 970 Pro Gaming Aura board I used automatically without needing to be manually set to that speed in the bios. Plus, the low profile heatsinks make it easier to use with aftermarket coolers. 8gb of this ram will do you well for web browsing and most gaming. I don't recommend 4gb anymore however, as it's just not enough, even for web browsing. Chrome in particular is a memory hog, as are many web-apps. Going from 4gb to 8gb on my mother's computer for instance made even stuff like Hotmail / Outlook fly when it was sluggish before. Even video streaming sites loaded stuff faster. If you play more demanding games, 12-16gb may be worthwhile, but for I feel that 8gb is enough for now.

I have been using Kingston ram on my system builds since the 90’s. My system is 5 years old and only had 8gb of Ram. Purchased another 8gb and to my surprise just by doubling my ram to 16 it made quite a difference when running games. Since these are “fury” there was no need to configure anything in my bios. Installed them and everything booted up fine, system recognized them and I am happy. Till my next major overhaul I will always stick with Kingston hyper x.
