GE Simon XT Backup Battery - Replacement and Experiences
So far, so good. The original battery lasted 14 months before it quit taking a charge and had dropped to 4.5 v. Apparently, they need to drop below 5.4 v before the charger kicks in. Mine never would take a charge and hence the low battery alarm ran continually. I then shut the whole system down until I received this new battery. To test the current charge, press and hold #6 for about 10 seconds. The system will then display the current charge in the battery. If it's 5.4 v or higher you're good to go. IMPORTANT - Google how to change the battery! SERIOUSLY! It's tricky, but not impossible. Actually not that bad, but had I NOT done this I could very easily have ruined the unit. Mine wasn't EXACTLY like the video, but close enough so that by being careful I could swap it without any problems. I powered the system up and pressed #6. Voila! It was showing 6.3 v and the constant beeping (low battery alarm) was gone. It now seems to be holding steady at 6.6 v and the system is working fine. If your battery is failing, seriously consider going this route. It's cheaper through Amazon (no security company markup) AND no service call fee! It really isn't hard. Just watch the video and watch what you're doing. You'll be fine. I am quite pleased with both the battery and with Amazon's service. Mint condition, undamaged shipping (USPS) and it arrived several days sooner than expected. Nice! I'll be back, guys. Count on it. Sincerely, Bill Ogburn

Same as battery that came with ADT monitor
The people at ADT wanted $25 for this battery, then insisted it was to "complicated" to plug in the battery. WHAT A JOKE!!!! Buy this battery, unplug you security system from the wall, give it a few minutes, open your system carefully, pop your battery out, unplug your battery, plug this one in, pop back in, plug back up.... then call ADT and tell them to kiss your...... This is the exact same battery that came with my system for half the price. It has been in for a while now, no problems, no more annoying beeping keeping me up all night, cause Im waiting for a day that works for me and ADT..... then sit and wait all day, and they call and say.... well, were not going to be able to make it today, be out first thing tomorrow.... Even though we know you took off today and you wont be there tomorrow cause you told yesterday on the phone you have to work...... so...... what other days gonna be good for ya. If you cant tell, I don't like ADT..... but I like the battery..... buy it, save money, my 7 year old could put this thing in.

Battery Life was about 18 months
Used in a Simon XT Ordered September 13, 2019 Dead March 6, 2021 Expect about a year and a half of life at the cost of ~$12, totally worth it. We do get occasional power outages but usually not for long. I can't recall many outage over this span but even without outages this seems decent. Now the OEM one at least what Brinks security says 3-5 years. Our first one never lasted that long so can't expect much from an aftermarket battery. Take the extra minute to unscrew the plug from the outlet and unplug your device first, then switch out the battery. You can do it while still plugged in but the system low battery warning doesn't disappear right away.

Rechargeable Battery for Alarm
So far so good. Battery life depends on use, average of two to three years. Ordering thru Amazon is a lot easier than doing the leg work locally and wasting time and gas money. This is our second order.

Note the seller of the product not the manufacturer
Why did you pick this product vs others?: In the past I have purchased 6V, 1.3amp batteries for my Simon XT alarm system. The owner's manual recommends a 6V, 1.2amp battery so in May 2025 after finding limited makers of the 1.2 amp battery I purchased one by ExpertPower. Unfortunately I threw away the old battery after installing this new one expecting the new one to recharge in the system as they have always done in the past. After being installed in the alarm system for over 2 weeks, it still reads as "low battery". My option was to return the battery and get a replacement or contact the manufacturer. The alarm system will not work without a battery therefore returning it (to get a new one) was not an option so I contacted the manufacturer in hopes they would send me another one. Unfortunately I was told to get in touch with the seller of the battery, (Amazon) for a remedy but I missed the deadline. After one month in the alarm system it still reads as "low battery" accompanied with chimes.
