Self Fusing Repair Tape

I bought this to fix a split on an outdoor waste pipe connected directly to my washing machine. Because the pipe takes a high volume of water and vibrates during a cycle, standard duct tape or sealant just wouldn't hold up to the pressure or movement. As you can see from my attached photo, this self-fusing tape handled the job flawlessly. The trick is to wrap it tightly while stretching it to its limit, overlapping each layer by about half. It completely fused together into a thick, rubberised, impenetrable seal over the joint. It has been through multiple hot washing machine drains now with absolutely zero leaks or signs of peeling. It is an essential item to keep in the DIY drawer for emergency plumbing repairs unmatched value for money.

I chose this product as I was using it as a belt and braces wrapping for a push fit joint under the floorboards on some central heating pipe. (Yes yes I know you should solder but whatever) I had already wrapped the joint with isobutyl tape from a popular trade counter which was easy to apply and had melted into one solid rubbery cover. I had full confidence in this But I had read that isobutyl has a max working temp of 80c-100c. Although my heating goes nowhere near that I was worried it would fail or become a sticky mess, so I removed the rubber tape and applied this tapeinstead, which claims resistance to 260c. It doesn't apply or adhere nearly as well and doesn't conform to intricate shapes as easily as the rubber tape. It likes to stick to itself though but I don't think it becomes one mass like rubber tape. I'm not sure it will stop a leak from the push fit in the future and it's so much harder to apply for my rather bodge-ey use case. It would be ok as a temp repair but the rubber tape would be better I think, and is cheaper too. I wish I'd kept that on as this doesn't conform very well so is unlikely to be a good repair for a lot of things.

This product has saved my life, at least for the next few days or so anyway, I had a split in my radiator pipe on my car and every 20 miles was losing all my water and having 2 pull over and fill my radiator back up with water, I know you shouldn't drive this way but the garage told me I needed 2 order the replacement pipe myself as it was a ford part this is for my Mondeo 1.8tdci 2010 by the way, so I ordered the pipe but not able 2 deliver for another 4 days so searched online 4 solutions as I can't not have a car for a week as I'm sure we all can understand, anyway ordered this tape next day delivery and got it this morning and applied it to split in pipe and have been driving my car all day long without losing a drop of water or my temperature gauge even slightly moving and it's one of the hottest weeks of the year so, so far so good, I know it's only been a day but I've spent the last 2 day's having 2 fill bottles of water up everywhere I go and pulling over 10 times a day to stop overheating and this tape has worked all day long and has made my life normal again, hopefully it lasts out till new pipe comes but I feel blessed 2 have my car back again as I'm sure we can all appreciate how much our lives change 4 the worse when u have been driving 4 a long time and all of a sudden u have no car it turns ur world upside down, if u have the same problem as me then get it it's 100% worth it, no leakage, adhesion fantastic

Got great for awkward shapes, and can be tricky to apply without it constantly sticking to itself.

Duck Tape Wrap-Fix Self-Fusing Repair Tape | Self Amalgamating | Self Bonding for Plumbing Used and bought before. Excellent fo the purpose it advertises. Amazingly grips surfaces. My first use ue was to use wrapped around a 2 into1 tap spout as it had cracked. Still working today afer many months getting wet. Second use just now - 18-02-26 was to wrap around a round interior door handle because I couldn't get a purchace by hand so I couldn't open the door. The phisical rubber grip it gave me allowed me to give it that last twist. Amazing stuff - don't be without ever.

This is great but do not use in any pipe that has warm or hot water flowing through this is a cold water pipe product.

Lo avevo già comprato in passato, è utilissimo, molto elastico e duttile, si adatta a tutti i tipi di raccordi, e passandolo stretto nei giunti che perdono, smette di gocciolare. Lo consiglio, anche da tenere nella cassetta degli attrezzi come riserva o pronto intervento. Utile anche per i manicotti dell'auto o della barca..

Used it to protect a module from getting rain in. Super easy to stick and feels like good quality, haven’t had any issues with it and it’s been months. Holding on pretty nicely

It has saved me hundreds in diesel fuel tank pipe and connectors repair. Very pleasant to work with, molds into itself very fast, but giving some time to correct, resistant to diesel and providing a very tight seal when applied properly. Cannot recommend enough.
