Great customer service, beautiful lights!
We ordered a few of these to hang on our porch as Christmas decorations. One of them came with some of the lights out (picture). I contacted the seller (Novelty Lights) and they gave me directions for trying to fix it but also immediately sent a new one that works great. I was very impressed with their customer service. The lights looked spectacular and we got many compliments - I would definitely do business with them again. But one thing I'd point out to the designers - it isn't necessarily easy to string these balls all together, because they come with ~8 foot cords, but the electric outlet is at the end of each cord, so unlike a string of lights that you can put together end-to-end, These can be strong together only at the very ends of their cords so if you want to put them close together, you've got a lot of extra cord. I would have loved it if they had an extra outlet by the light itself for stringing them together, but I suppose that people may hang them far apart...just know that for every ball, you've got to have an electrical source within about 8 feet -- you can't just connect one to a power source and then string the rest together indefinitely. All will wind up having to have an electrical cord. The way we resolved the problem was connecting light strings to one end and making those act as extension cords to connect the balls so we didn't have to have three long extension cords for each ball.

These made the most magical Christmas decorations in our 'hood!
We have 3 large deciduous trees in our front yard. Over the prior 2 years we accumulated about 2-3 dozen of these lights in both the large and small sizes, all in white. Then we added in about 10 small red ball lights within the scatter of white ones, mostly in these 3 trees. The look as you come down our street and see the trees all lit up with these is breathtaking! Neighbors were constantly asking where we got them, and how they heck we got them up into the trees! Here are some pointers....1. First, shorten the strings for the hangers. Optimal length of hanging string is 12" or less. It makes it much easier to hang them with the method we used below. It also helps you get them up higher, since there is a limit to how high you will be able to get to attach them.2. They come with a little green plastic loop but it's not practical to hang on a branch if that's what you want to use (too small a diameter). We took old wire hangers and cut them up into an "S", with the top part large enough to hook over a branch. Small part went through the green plastic hook.3. Get a long extension pole, and attach (duct tape is fine) the handle part of a paint-roller, so that you have right-angle bent hook (metal-only part of the paint roller) at the end of the pole. Hang the coat hanger you made, with the ball suspended from it, from the hook-on-a-pole, and with that you can hoist the balls way up high into the tree and slip them over a branch. It takes practice. At first there was lots of arguing between me & my husband, but we got into a rhythm and can do all 3 trees within a few hours without killing each other. We actually pulled out a 12' extension ladder to put these in our 30' trees, and had lights as high as 20' up. It was stunning.4. You can get a bunch of these connected via an extension cord, and it's a good idea to have the cord up and connected to the lights before you put them up if you have to fiddle the cords between branches. You can daisy chain them, but if the distance is to great between 2 balls you'll need an extension cord.Downsides: I took off one star because we ended up with patches of bad lights on some of the balls. I don't know if it was the new balls or older ones (2 years old), but I had to replace a whole bunch of lights when I took them down.

Absolutely beautiful!
I ordered three of the spheres with white lights to put on a small tree next to my back patio door so we can see them while seated at the table. In addition I strung white lights on small firs behind the tree. I strung the wires around tree branches so they were not hanging loose, and taped them to the largest stem of the tree with black duct tape so you do not see the wires. We recently had a severe icy/snowstorm and all has held up so far! The patio looks like a fairyland. I've had many compliments on these lights. Unfortunately, photographs do not do them justice because you cannot see the twinkling lights in the photograph, just a white globe effect, so you would need to see them in person. The lights have a soft, romantic effect, not glaring bright.

The blue spheres are awful
We have ordered many red spheres from Novelty Lights before and they are fantastic. For several years we've hung 7 of them from the trees above our flat-roof home and they are just magical. We'd get comments and compliments from everyone! Unfortunately, by the time we took them down last year, squirrels had munched through several of their cords, so we decided to order all new spheres this year and switch up our look with blue lights. What a mistake! 3 of them look kind of turquoise, 4 are blue. Unfortunately the white interior bulbs are visible through the holes, so overall the spheres just look pale, mismatched, and ugly. Our positioning of them is a lot of work, so we put hours into getting them up, placed, and secured. We waited until dark to flip the switch and were SO disappointed. If it wasn't such an ordeal to take them down we would have returned them immediately. We emailed the seller our disappointment to see if there'd be a possible compensation for the mismatch at least, but heard nothing back. Thought maybe we'd swallow the loss on these 7 ugly blue ones and maybe they'd offer us a deal on 7 red replacements. But nope, we heard nothing. So I thought I'd at least warn the next buyer to steer clear of the dismal blue spheres. Trust me, they're bad. The reds are fabulous. As repeat customers, I'm also really disappointed with the complete lack of customer service.
