I bought this in Jan 2017 and it's still going strong! Been traveling nonstop for 3 years with it and still. I dropped it and plastic comb did break a little but still functions well. Adjustable and the small trimmer is so good for trimming the next line and mustache. This is a tank!

This trimmer works just like my previous one did. It has a main beard hair adjustable length trimming feature, an supports between 1 and 20 mm in length. There are two combs, one for 1-10mm, the other for 11-20mm. The razor supports being submerged in water. It also has a special trimmer extension for fine adjustments, which is the main reason I bought it. I like this feature the best for fine trimming of my moustache, and sometimes for nose hair. The quality is very good, as I would expect with a Japanese product, and it feels sturdy and reliable. It charges with an included cable that plugs into the base. The only improvement would be for a wall charger to be added (that holds the razor in place on the wall, rather than having to attach a cable).

First of all, this is a completely unbiased review as I paid for this item, unlike most of the Vine reviews that you see posted. I was recently in the market for a new beard trimmer. I had grown tired of the one I was using (Braun Cruzer) and it seemed like it wasn't as powerful as it used to be. It also felt like it wasn't holding its charge as well and as a result, starting to pull my beard while trimming. So I set off to do some research to find a replacement... I probably looked for a couple of weeks before finally settling on the Panasonic ER-GB80-S. My biggest drawback was the price. I had a very hard time paying $100 for something I was going to use mostly once a week. Not to mention, it was also over $40 more than the hair clipper that I purchased with it. With that being said, I don't mind paying a little bit extra for a high quality product. I know it says that it can be used to hair but I prefer to have a dedicated clipper for that. Initially I was skeptical because most of the reviewers had were a part of the Vine program. But, they're SUPPOSED to give a fair and honest review, right? So I eventually caved and purchased it because I wasn't thrilled by my other options. I was impressed that it had 39 different settings and could be rinsed under the faucet for quick and easy cleaning. When I received it in the mail, I honestly couldn't wait to use it. I do most of my shaving on Friday night/Saturday morning (because of my profession, I don't have to shave as frequently as others might). So Friday finally arrived and it was time to put it to a test. I noticed a huge difference immediately! Trimming my beard to stubble was enjoyable again! My hair wasn't pulled once and the motor never lost an ounce of power. I tried a few of the different settings before going to the shortest one. The dial turned smoothly and clicked at each individual setting. With so many options, it would be hard to find one that you didn't like! The precision trimmer worked flawlessly also. I mostly use that to trim around my mustache area. Cleaning and oiling it was a breeze. I ran it under water to remove all the hair and haven't seen any side effects from doing so. As with any product that has moving parts, maintenance is key. You should always use the provided oil before and after each use to keep it in top shape! So why only 4 stars? Because there's not an option to give it 4.5 stars and the price. While I'm extremely happy that I purchased it (it provides me with the most comfortable shaving experience I've ever had), I feel that it could have been offered for a lesser price than what I paid for it ($100). The travel pouch also left a lot to be desired. I don't expect it to last very long but I also don't plan on using it that often either. With all that being said, if you use it for everything that it offers, maybe it's worth $100 to you. Either way, you won't be sorry that you bought it!

This product has been wonderful. It is of very good quality and has been with me for many years. The battery lasts two or three uses and it has not rusted or been damaged when I have wet it. It is worth noting that I have wet it a little, washed the blades and blown the internal part where the little motor goes and absolutely nothing has happened. They are still in very good condition. Over the years I've had some horrible luck with beard trimmers. Having a coarse beard myself, many trimmers don't hold up, have 15 attachments to fumble with, and don't clean up easily. And on top of it all, they don't have enough length adjustments. I out-right abuse this trimmer. I've been using it for 4 months, used the adjustable length to grow my beard evenly (every week click it up one notch to go longer), rinse it off, apply zero oil to the blade (other than the first time), and at the end the maximum length is a solid beard and evenly trimmed. I also found it easy to keep the same attachment and shorten the length for my moustache. I'm not sure I've charged it more than twice - so it holds a charge. If I had to manufacture something to not like about this, it does not do trimming well (squaring off the corners of my beard, for example). I have an actual razor for that and I don't usually keep a beard in the summer. Like most non-razor trimmers, when I extend the trimmer it doesn't have enough speed, and pulls at hair a little. It took me all of 5 seconds to figure that out, and I went back to my high speed razor to do that maintenance. The trimmer may be OK for fine hair, and I wouldn't want anything compromised to make it a better trimmer. So 5 stars to keep it exactly as it is.

Before this trimmer I had a small cordless Norelco beard trimmer and it was by far the best I ever owned. The width of the blades, the closeness, the length options, everything worked for me perfectly. The big problem; it was a nickel battery and eventually slowed to barely usable until now nothing. I did my research to find an equal beard trimmer. After days and countless hours of reading reviews and watching videos (ignoring price) I decided to go with the Panasonic ER-GB80-S. I will admit; I enjoy this trimmer... It works quietly, has Lithium batteries, in the shower, has great length settings and attachments, charges are strong and long lasting (many daily uses before recharge also works great when plugged in not charging and draining), to top it off it even feels like a good quality trimmer. The biggest problem is the size of the blades... They are too wide and I mean TOO WIDE. Getting around the corners of your beard, your mustache, or doing any fine cutting is extremely hard and nearly impossible. You don't need trimmers this wide for your beard. The other problem is the gap between the blades. Panasonic says this is to help it catch thick hair.. Well I have really thick hair and the small gapped Norelco was perfect. The large gaps in this device causes it to catch your skin and it even feels like it's digging when using the raw blade for closeness. It also doesn't get nearly as close as my Norelco and leaves unevenness because of the wideness. Overall it's a great machine but just isn't setup to be a good beard trimmer with these flaws. I recently discovered Norelco releasing a similar trimmer to the one I had before but with Lithium batteries and the price is close to this one. I can't afford to go buy another right now but I definitely wish I would have held out and tried the other first. If you're looking for a powerful machine, strong long lasting battery, water resistant with many sizing and attachment options, to include a look and feel that's durable and quality build then take a close look here. However; if you're looking for a trimmer than has great blades, gives a close cut (nearly equal to a shave), has a smooth safe cut, and sized perfectly for the face and other small areas then you might want to look further.

All my life I have always owned good ol fashioned Norelco or Braun razors that are thick and blunt but they get the job done. They are workman like and imprecise but they are easy to clean and can survive a decades worth of drops on the floor. When the motor of my last razor finally gave out I decided to treat myself to a fancy "All-In-One" Panasonic. It blows out loud. It is incredibly delicate for an all purpose razor, requiring multiple passes to trim to the level intended. Very different from the hard motoring Norelco or Brauns that you would swear run on diesel. So that sucked. But at least it has the handy little beard trimmer right? Nope. The slide-up precision trimmer is impossible to control since the entire razor itself is too bulky to be precise but you are then required to push a little harder to compensate for the extra weight. Which then pushes the trimmer back down. Any cheap mustache/beard trimmer would do a superior job, defeating the purpose of the "All-In-One" function. The marketing from Panasonic touts it's 'easy to clean", just let water flow freely through the unit. A simple rinse under the faucet, right? Nope. Hair everywhere. I would have to wait for it to dry, then open the casing and use the brush repeatedly to get hair out of the mechanism itself. Worst of all, after 2 months of use I dropped the razor ONCE. One time and it SHATTERED. It didn't break or chip. Shattered. Parts akimbo. The most money I've ever spent on a razor and it couldn't survive ONE fall onto a bathroom rug. Yikes. This device failed in every category and now makes me question the corporate leadership at Panasonic itself. Did they cut the R & D department to reduce costs?! I know they moved their television division out of the US, but they but they need to take their razor department as well!

Apart from this product's great performance for money, Amazon's delivery timing has improved with their shift to using UPS for shipments to Singapore.
