Perfect for condo living.
Sturdy retractable clothesline that we installed over a washer and dryer that are in what used to be a double closet. The space above is just perfect for this clothesline. It holds A LOT of weight- we probably overload it, honestly. Easy to install. Has been in there over 18 months and has not snapped. I don't actually retract it. I just leave empty hanger son it until the next round of laundry- or until I get this load put away. Totally recommend if you like to air dry some laundry.

Great product but needs patience + dexterity to install. Company should provide more machine screws
I'm glad someone manufactures this, because now I can have a clothesline in my little laundry closet. Yay! I haven't used this yet, so I might edit this review later, but I just want to say that that install requires some patience and dexterity. It's not too difficult to figure out how to install this. I didn't even need the directions. I would recommend using a stud finder so you are screwing the hardware into actual wood beams and not just sheet rock. It also helps to drill tiny pilot holes first. Basically, you install hardware to your wall on each end. They provide screws for that. The only trouble I had here was on the plate side, the screws stripped and I had trouble screwing them flush against the wall/plate. They do provide glue, so that helped secure it flush against the wall so it doesn't wiggle. The challenging part is attaching the outer parts on each end to their respective fastening hardware. On the spool side, you need to place 1 tiny (2-3 mm long) machine screw to hold the spool onto it's hardware. On the plate side, you need to place 2 of the tiny screws, one on the top and one on the bottom. See pictures. The screws have to go pretty close to the wall, and are very tiny, so it is easy to drop them. In my case, I dropped them in between the dryer and wall, and it was cumbersome to fish them out. They do give you a tiny screwdriver, which is helpful. But the main issue is you have to engage some tiny screws into tiny holes, right next to the wall. They give you 4 of the tiny screws. You only need 3. They really should give you 8, though, given how hard it is to place the screws and that many people will be installing this where they can drop down beside their washer/dryer. Good luck with that.

Great for drying swimwear and towels
Quality materials. Has held up outside quite nicely. Used for hanging swim gear and towels throughout the summer to dry. It's easy to use and made from a metal, whish looks and functions so much better than the plastic ones. Line is sturdy and doesn't have too much slack when full.

Does a great job - looks elegant
I had this EXACT model as the No-Drill option for over 5 years but not from JOOM. I use it to dry my wet Yoga towel, and other Gym items before going into the laundry, or for use again. Over time the braded Stainless Steel line began to fray from use, and it affected the operation on the retractor, plus snagging cloth if I wasn't careful I really like the look of this one; and took the chance that all I'd need to do was unscrew my old one, and put up the new JOOM (Drill) using the existing No-drill bracket. I was right! It took less than 5 minutes as a replacement. I hope it will last at least as long as the old one did; or that I'll still be able to get this style if I need to in the future.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION SAYS YOU CAN GLUE IT BUT THERE'S NO GLUE...
My new favorite 4 letter word is JOOM! First of all there's directions about mounting this clothesline with glue but no glue! I sent it back for another one with glue but STILL NO GLUE! I emailed JOOM about where's the glue and alternately what kind of glue should be used? No answer... So finally I want this clothesline up in my bathroom to dry bath towels and I don't want to have to sand off the finish on my ceramic tiles ( which every glue in the universe requires) so I give up and decide to install the clothesline with a drill. I buy the correct drill bit for my tile. In order to mount the big part of the clothesline that holds the line I first have to screw in this mounting plate that reattaches to the clothesline easily on one side. Naturally the other side requires me to install the type of teeny tiny screw that is even smaller than screws used on eye glasses. Also I can't see the hole inside that this itsy bitsy screw has to go in because it's behind the clothesline and of course it's not placed where people with normal fingers and a normal understanding of logic can screw it in . SO STILL NO CLOTHESLINE!! I really don't like it when manufacturers won't respond to correspondence about their product I just paid them money for and I have a question about. Why give me an email address then ignore my email??? I also really don't like it when any product is designed in a way that makes it difficult for customers to assemble or install! I'm never ever going to use anything but JOOM again. I'm having someone with tiny fingers try the stupid screw and if they can't do it either then it goes in the garbage where it belongs and then I have to patch the drill holes I really didn't want to drill. Matching a patching material to my tiles is going to be unlikely so I guess I will need to purchase something else to hide the drill holes I didn't want to drill. Thanks JOOM! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS MANUFACTURER UNLESS YOU SRE TRYING TO PUNISH YOURSELF!!!!!!!!. UGH!!!!!!

Works great in our Travel Trailer
I installed thin in our 2015 Keystone Outback just above our shower. This thing is solid and looks awsome (the brushed stainless steel). To lock it when extended, just screw down the crown (where the line comes out). Everything is smooth with no binding. When retracting, the spring is tight and can easily snap back into the assembly if released or let go, so be careful when retracting. Installation was simple and there is very little flex when hanging anything on it. We recently switched to the large shammy type body towels in our camper due to their light weight and compactness and even when wet those large towels barely make the line flex. I’ve also hung jeans on this and while much heavier, this clothes line never budged. I also ensured I sunk the both ends of the (the assembly body and line) into a solid stud. After a month of use, this clothes line appears to look and feel (when extending or retracting) like new. I loke to get several years out of it.

Almost good
The good: Straightforward installation, easy to follow. Item looks good. The not so good: The included wall anchors don't inspire the confidence to fully load the line. I ended up using a thicker set from Lowes. If you want to screw the ends into the top of a door beam, you need to contend with an bottom screw on the removable end piece. This makes it tough to install as the height of the header wood competes with the door trim, making it hard to reach this final assembly screw if you're too close to the top of the door. The biggest drawback however is the line and its screw-on tightening mechanism. The line is too thin in my opinion. The tightening mechanism pinches this round steel line to the point of making it flat in order to hold. In that position it holds but not for very long at the rated load. Eventually it sags. When you go to tighten it again, you notice the line is now deformed flat where it was pinched. Not a good design. The thin line makes it also hard to pull things off the line without completely lifting them vertically off the wire. Otherwise the line digs and snags into every piece of fabric.

Lindo pero poco funcional
El diseño esta hermoso. Pero realmente no soporta peso, el diseño que lo sostiene a la pared no resiste!

Perfect (after all) in their first year of use.
>>The best one could hope for! — Requires a little perseverance to install, but remains secure when everything is done well (and screwed into a hard material). + Compact, aesthetic (can be forgotten in the decor), solid, the cable is long and locks well at the desired size, reasonably isolated (from external moisture), quality materials (polished steel, plastic, nylon cable), resistant despite repetitive use… Could be as useful in RV, chalet, as at home… It is a model that seems to have proven itself for over 10 years. The price for 2 was very reasonable compared to some other sellers on the site, for just one. It didn't cost anything to talk about it!
