Gold ToneEB-5 Electric Banjo w/Gig Bag, Tuner, and Stand

It's a really nice electric banjo. Easy to play, and sounds good when plugged in. asthetically it is beautiful as well. The gig bag is also decent. I am happy with the stand, but the tuner doesn't work very well. Something wrong with the power button, can't get it to stay on. Tried brand new battery, other than the one that was shipped with it, and still wont stay on. If I hold the button down or wedge something in so that it stays pressed it works, but makes it very difficult to tune anything. Can't complain to much about it though as the main product is worth every penny. I gave it 4 stars because of the tuner, and it was shipped with Fed ex. Every time I get a package from fed ex they screw it up. Not the sellers fault. Fed ex came to my house twice empty handed. I was beginning to think I wasn't going to get the package. But third times a charm I guess, and it finally arrived. Overall, I am very happy with the banjo!

Surprised and pleased by the high quality of materials, construction and setup. Nice tone. I'm running this directly through my Yamaha MG10XU mixer. The EB-5 does not like the compression feature. Finish was 4.5 out of 5. Had a couple of questions for their customer service (Gold Tone) and got replies back within an hour for both. Number one complaint is the neck outweighs the pot, so just sitting down to play is challenging (gravity pulls the neck toward the floor). You'll need a strap if you're sitting down or standing up. Overall, very pleased with my purchase.May 1, 2019 Update: After a little closer examination, I want to amend my quality assessment from a 4.5 to a 4. Areas that should have had a cleaner cut or finish just weren't quite there. Also, I submitted an inquiry for their customer service a few days ago and haven't heard back. Still, overall pleased with my purchase.

Great banjo - factor in the cost of a professional setup. Neck was in bad need or adjustment. String buzz was unacceptable. Ultimately returned it - to the sellers credit, this was easy. Overall, I'm happy and would consider purchasing from this seller again.

I can imagine my fears were typical, ordering an electric banjo I've never put my hands on before. I was very surprised at the quality and the sound. The EB-5 sounds great plugged or unplugged. Very solid construction, very high quality 8" resonator. The gig bag and stand are also well worth the money.

Gold Tone EB-5Well made. The setup was perfect out of the box. The body is darker than shown in the online pictures. I like that. Beautiful. The neck feels really good and it’s comfortable to play. Perhaps, because it’s thinner than I am used to, I have been using a strap to ensure the neck stays up and in place. Electrically it works great, but will depend on your equipment and expectations. Because I expected to use it primarily unplugged, I was concerned with how banjo-ie it would sound. An 8 inch head is going to sound different and will have less projection than a standard size banjo head. This has a really nice banjo sound and is fun to play. It’s a bit quieter, depending how hard you pick it, so its perfect for around the house. I think it has more of a resonator like sound than an open back banjo. One thought was, because it is quieter, I could use it on vacation. Jury is still out on that. This can defiantly be quieter and should work. But it’s also easy to get playing a bit faster and picking a bit harder, so it may be just as intrusive to loved ones around me trying to sleep or watch TV.Bottom line, the more I play it, the better I like it.
