Mostly meditations on 22 cards of major arcana from Tarot

When I got this book I expected it to be more about 6th and 7th book of Moses, along the lines of the book edited by Joseph Peterson, which seems to be unsurpassed if you're looking for that kind of information. The bulk of the Sealed Magical Book of Moses revolves around preparing yourself to work with the seals from the 6th and 7th book of Moses, by meditating on the symbolism of the 22 cards of major arcana and the corresponding sections from the Psalm 119. Psalm 119 is divided into 22 section - each one belonging to one letter of the Hebrew alphabet, and each one endowed with meaning and associated with one of the cards from Tarot's major arcana. There are other books that deal with meditations and interpretations of the major arcana cards for those who want to get even deeper into it - books of the Golden Dawn Tarot series by Paul Foster Case, and others that relate to the study of Cabbala and the meaning and the power of the Hebrew letters. The information regarding actually working with the seals is minimal, and as such is available in just about any other book related to 6th and 7th book of moses - though here it is further simplified and for that reason it may appeal to those who prefer to keep things simple. While the author mentions how he likes to keep thing simple, and I personally do appreciate simplicity, he is also trying to by-pass the purification of one's mind, heart, and body which is customarily recommended in most esoteric traditions, and which I personally consider important, even when working with "good" magic. The more one works with "magic" or "prayer" or esoteric practices in any shape or form, as one's inner power increases, so everything within the individual becomes magnified and everything that is within the individual begins to manifest faster and faster and with greater power, and here is where those who do not take the time to regularly purify their minds and hearts sooner or later stumble or fall and get stuck. All the power is already within each individual and if one were looking for shortcuts, the the main shortcut would be by cleansing one's mind and heart and removing the inner obstacles to the "light and power" within. In that respect, I consider this book more of a good start, rather than the final word on working with the seals.

    Boooooo!

Rife with historical inaccuracy, full of misspellings (the author spells "altar" as the verb "to alter",) and really preachy (which I did assume the preachy part would be present,) this is something the more initiated among us will find a tedious read. Probably good for your grandma who thinks spellcasting is evil. I gave it 2 stars - you might find something useful here, - but as someone who's been studying the occult for almost 25 years, it unfortunately doesn't pass the test for a teaching tool. Better read by those who can extract the stupidity (and decipher the misspellings, such as "The Fool" card frequently being typed as "The Pool" in kindle version,) and find the good stuff. As Colman-Smith and Waite have actually discussed many of the esoteric symbolism of her drawings (the tarot probably wasn't around in the 10th century, much less at the time of Moses, by the way, and the Waite-Smith Tarot is about 100 years old,) Orbiello's interesting hijacking and his own interpretations of the symbols (many of which referenced things which were not the meanings he was suggesting,) is certainly a red flag, though it does make for an interesting meditation. This is one of those "great if you can read through the horrid misspellings, and pick the gems out of the bulls***" type books. The author also seems to be intent on letting us know this super secret society of weirdos has initiated him so he can help us. If ever there was a time people would misuse such things, one would think the 20th and 21st century would be right up there with "time for not following God's plan" so...it is bizarre they would release such "secrets" (which have been better discussed in other works,) in an era such as this, and claim he was chosen to share them.I know hermetic mages who have had full manifestation, I know lots of people who commune with spirits, none of them sound as canned and hollywood-like as this guy. Maybe it was just his personality, his character (he was a reverend,) but it really, as I said, sounded canned. Not the worst book I ever read, but quite far from even being good. 1 star would mean burn it. 2 stars means if you can strip the good from the stupid, it might be worth $10.
