I keep this QuikClot gauze packed in my first aid kit for hiking, Jeep trail rides, camping trips, and outdoor adventures where emergency preparedness is important. Thankfully, I haven’t needed to use it yet, but having reliable emergency medical supplies on hand provides extra peace of mind when traveling in remote areas or off-road locations.The packaging is compact and easy to store without taking up much space in a backpack, recovery bag, or vehicle first aid kit. I also appreciate that it’s designed specifically for emergency bleeding situations, which makes it a smart addition to outdoor safety gear.For hikers, campers, overlanders, hunters, and off-road enthusiasts, this feels like one of those important emergency items you hope to never need but are glad to have available just in case.

Cut a piece of my thumb off and this stopped the bleeding quickly and avoided a trip to the Urgent Care. And yes I have done this before on these food slicers. I knew it couldn't be stitched and needed to heal by secondary intention. QuikClot stopped the bleeding that wouldn't stop with just pressure. Works great. Thumb all healed minus a piece.

As always, quick clot is a little expensiveBut in the time I need, it really makes it nice to help slow down the bleeding

A clotting bandage such as this is a must in a complete first aid kit, and this one is practical. This is for my wilderness/backpacking kit; however, I am buying another for my home kit as well.

Classic packing gauze, except it is marketed (and illustrated on the package) as something to be applied on top of the wound. That could definitely work, but main reason for getting a packing gauze, is to get a packing gauze! And it may be used in conjunction with just packing that joint cavity wound with a simple sterile gauze, putting the blood stopper on top. Just listen to your first aid instructor (certainly not me - I just have an opinion), and buy more of these - they are good.

Lifesavers if you are on blood thinners. These provide instant clotting to small cuts or scrapes that won’t stop bleeding.
