Works well, some work to install
It seems to work well. I had to make a bracket for my own kayak because I could not reach my arm long enough to get to the end of the kayak. It would have been helpful to have directions particularly where and how to do the knots, but I have seen stuff like this before and figured it out. I already had foot pedals so I just needed to connect this to the lines that were already in. The rope was not long enough, but a trip to the hardware store fixed that. I do like it. Just there is some work to put it on your kayak and it assumes of course you already have foot pedals.

Pretty good, did require some tinkering
Just like most other reviewers have mentioned, to get this to fit on my Jackson Liska it took some home engineering. I was able to get it mounted with the included bracket, but I had to drill a new hole in it to match up with the factory mounting holes on my kayak. Also, weirdly, the metal sleeve (see image) they sent me didn't actually fit in the bracket, so I had to grind that that down like a quarter an inch or so to get it to work. Weird. I'm using it as a skeg rather than a rudder so I attached some cords and turnbuckles to the steering holes so it's always in the middle position. Anyway, it flips up and down smoothly and it works well if you can just get it attached.

Great rudder, good price, easy install
I installed on a $300 10' Pelican Sit On Top Kayak. I did not use the supplied mount. I an exterior electrical wire mounting not and the included shim to create a shim that was able to screw right into the rear handle hole on my kayak. I did have to use my step drill bit to widen the rear handle hole in order to accepts what I was using to hold the rudder pin steady, I'm sure someone else could figure out a different way. Really, the whole thing was super easy. I found running the up and down haul lines and the steering to be self explanatory, I did use pad eyes, three jam cleats and some paracord to accomplish all of this. I added this rudder, and an aftermarket skeg from Amazon as well, to my little Pelican kayak because I bought a Falcon Sail for this kayak last year, I had plenty of fun with just the sail on the kayak but I figured this rudder and the skeg would improve my lateral stability when trying to sail my little toy kayak. I just finished with the additions today and sailed the kayak for the first time this season, it was a marked improvement in tracking and control and lateral stability. I can point windward far better now. The rudder installed itself, added utility, and looks like it will last forever. On a side note: I love this little kayak, it is the lightest sailboat I have ever had. It only weighs 40lbs, I put it over my head and carry it wherever I want to take it, with the sail and rudder and paddle, all attached to it. It is awesome. I weigh 260lbs myself, I am a big man, I fit in this little boat and it floats me fine. I have more fun with this than I've had with many boats. It is a wet ride, I wear swim trunks when I go.

Looks like a good product but,
I found this on Amazon and thought it would work great for my installation and what I needed. It looks fairly well built, however there were no instructions included of any kind. The screw on bracket is pretty self-explanatory and the way the rudder mounts but the control rope have no clue as to how to hook it up so I guess I will have to experiment on my own. I guess that's why it was so cheap. You get what you pay for these days

Good product, much less expensive than a "factory" replacement.
A very inexpensive, good quality rudder. In my case, an excellent replacement, or spare rudder for my Impex kayak,

Tracking issues solved!
Bought a Sundolphin Bali 10SS and loved it for a day. Second time out on the water I quickly realized that no matter what I did the boat wouldn't track straight. This meant that I was exerting energy not just to move forward but to keep the kayak straight. The moment you stopped paddling the boat would turn around. The design of this kayak also doesn't allow for very fast paddling because of the flat bottom. I hated my new kayak. You could not find a place that had kayaks in stock at the time, so I was stuck. Did some research and decided a retractable skeg was the way to go. The bracket that came with the rudder didn't work for me. The pin on the rudder is not standard size and would not fit any other brackets.... Made a rubber seal and used the drain plug for the pin. Drilled two holes and used screws to attach the rudder steering wings to the kayak. Used a carabiner clip attached to my seat strap for the cable to raise and drop the skeg. (It's important that if you decided to use this as a skeg that you can drop and retract it easily from your seat.) My next river day was amazing. My tracking was perfect even on a windy day in a flat bottom kayak!!! Fell in love with my new boat all over again. Whatever line I picked the kayak would follow. It even improved my paddle speed. The rudder has taken a bit of a beating but there's still no damage to it after months of use. Traded my kayak recently, kept the rudder 🥰.

Works great! Some creative assembly is required.
It works perfectly along with the foot pedal controls I installed for steering. If you have a kayak designed for rudders this probably would be a simple install but for anyone, including myself, that doesn’t have a kayak designed for it it will definitely take some work depending on how functional you want it to be. It’s pretty straight forward what you have to do but I had to design a mount, run cables through the hull, run pull line across the deck. Definitely doable for anyone who has done some kayak modding before!

Sturdy product, needs more guidance
As many have stated, no really useful instructions but if your handy, you'll figure it out. Had to build a mount for my plastic pelican kayak as it's not really made to sit in the tow rope hole (or whatever fancy name those holes have).
