Works just fine as a switch, bit complicated & underpowered for anything else
Bought two of these, using one as a router and the other as a simple switch for in-home 10G runs over fibre. The switch was simple to setup, essentially upgrade to the latest firmware and take the defaults as a bridge. Configuring one as a router on the other hand was anything but simple. Finding answers without having to trawl through YouTube was driving me crazy. This little box is a powerhouse, but needs someone with more patience and time to learn than I do. To get my router setup, I followed the example found on GoWifi's website, which was a godsend (I obviously ignored the wifi parts as they were unnecessary here). If you're in the same boat, Google the following: gowifi beginners guide Mikrotik router I don't own a PC, only Mac's so had no choice but to install Wine, and run Winbox.exe to get this done (at one point, you'll have to connect to the device using the MAC address and not the IP address, which is why you need to use Winbox). Other than not understanding where my backups got saved, it now works. Performance wise, as a switch it works great. A router on the other hand isn't recommended for anything except light (real world 330Mbps max throughput) workloads or for temporary use. If it's a router you need, I'd suggest connecting this to the RB5009UG+S+IN instead.

Excellent, well built, switch.
Bought to extend my home 10G network from one bedroom Ethernet jack to the other end of house through fibre in the loft. Make sure you get the FibreMall 80m 10GBASE-T module if you need Ethernet as it is the only 80m module that reports temperature correctly on these units. Also runs cool and at only 3.255V, so within spec. Got 10Gtek SR fibre modules and they work great too. Switch runs cool, is incredibly well built and performs well with their SwOS. My only criticism is the lack of HTTPS for web management. This is not ok in 2024. Apart from that I love this thing.

Amazing for audio streaming
I may not be the typical customer for this product but nevertheless. I use it to source my audio streaming stereo setup. I power it through a Linear power apply and it sounds really good. And I love the router OS.

Good but runs Hot
Arrived today - Plugged in 2 ESXi hosts and a QNAP NAS all using SFP - up an running in about 10mins . 10GB connection speeds on all connections. Good upgrade from existing 1GB switch at a low price. Only issue is that the case is already hot to touch after running for about an hour - will see how long it lasts before components fail due to overheating.. Mikrotek - can you consider better cooling on the next model please ? :-)

Great value 10g L2 switch
It's a dirt cheap 10g switch that doesn't have fans, and you can even power it with PoE! What's more to say? OK the os is pretty nasty and using any sort of feature that requires software processing (i.e. anything L3) kills performance dead, but don't try to be silly and it's just incredible value. Just be aware it does run very hot, especially if you're planning on using 10gbase-t. Make sure it can breathe!

Great for 10Gb SFP+ interconnects
No indicator lights but works well.

Bit convoluted if you want to specifically setup vlans only on specific ports.
Was a bit of mucking around and trial and error to setup for my specific needs but worked out of the box otherwise. A cheap, 5 port silent switch, 10Gb switch. Can not argue with value and has been faultless since I owned it. Disappointing there is no console port but the WinBox software should be able to locate the device as long as it is on the same vlan/logical network.

It really is a tiny little box that makes it easy to get started with 10GBe at home. If you have a small network or Homelab and wish to get them all networked at speeds you will be grateful for if you do a lot of data transfers. NIC's and SFP+ copper is affordable on eBay or other online shopping places. Doing it for an entire home would be a lot more work but not impossible. Just depends on if you like exposed cabling or your place has false ceilings or places to route hidden away.

I liked the product. For this price there is no other 10g switch in market

We’ve been using the MikroTik CRS305-1G-4S+in in our office setup, and it’s been a fantastic addition to our network infrastructure. The four SFP+ ports are a standout feature, offering 10Gbps high-speed connectivity that’s perfect for linking routers, servers, or other backbone devices. One of the things we appreciate most is its multiple power options. It supports redundant DC input, which adds peace of mind in case one power source fails. Plus, the PoE-in capability means we can power it directly over Ethernet—super convenient when you're trying to minimize cabling or use existing PoE infrastructure. We’ve deployed this switch in switch mode to split ISP connections between dual routers, and it’s worked flawlessly. It’s compact, silent (passively cooled), and extremely reliable—ideal for both home labs and professional environments. If you need a small form-factor switch with serious performance and flexibility, this is a great choice. Highly recommended for anyone working with fiber uplinks or multi-router setups.
