We ALWAYS use quick release collars. I hope they continue to make these and keep the price reasonable as I can only afford so much with 5 cats that must have in / out privileges to keep the peace.

I originally purchased the giant bell for her collar from this company and it worked for four days. This collar has worked now for three weeks. No birds, lizards, or rats (dead or alive) in my house for THREE WEEKS!!! Whereas I used to tentatively walk into my kitchen every morning, steeling myself for some level of carnage requiring a cleanup crew, I can now start my mornings on a joyful note. I highly recommend this product. If you have a bell on your cat's collar that you want to keep, I recommend putting a small stitch on each end of the openings to keep the bell from sliding into the fabric tube. The tube is rather wide and presents some issues, but they're not insurmountable - and applying a couple of small stitches helps a lot.

A: I agree with the other replies. A bell can be hung from the inside collar, or sometimes people sew bells on the outside of the fabric collar cover. The Birdsbesafe® collar cover works very well without bells, too, as it's designed to use colors to alert birds to the cat's stalking nearby.

**Q: Can the cat wear just the colorful fabric or does a collar need to be worn under it?**
A: Hello, The Birdsbesafe cat collar cover does need a cat collar, which is then put inside of the collar cover, and is used to hold the fabric cover on the cat's neck. Cat collars need to be purchased separately, which helps the cat owner be able to choose and use any brand of cat collar that they like. Make sure to use a breakaway buckled cat collar, which releases automatically. The Birdsbesafe cover is tubular, and open at two ends, so it can release (fall off) the cat if the cat collar buckle opens. That's for cat safety. Thank you!

**Q: Does this work on frogs, lizards, and chipmunks?**
A: Cats wearing Birdsbesafe collar covers can hunt mammals "normally." Rodents don't have the same eye features that songbirds do. Expect the usual number of mice and other mammals to be caught. A scientific study in Australia showed some protection for lizards when cats wore Birdsbesafe cat collar covers.

**Q: does this increase cat visibility to coyotes?**
A: This information pertains to dogs and coyotes, as their senses are similiar. Dogs and other canines see red, yellow, and orange as gray. They see green as gray, and see blue as light blue. Dogs are commonly called "color blind" for this reason. They also do not see with great detail and clarity from a distance, but rely more on smell and sound. Patterns and colors are not expected to be attractive to coyotes. One could check with local wildlife authorities for further information.

Have had this almost a month now and no birds caught! Our cat was bringing in live birds 1-2 times per week. So this collar was a relief to find. Now the birds (and myself) have no problem spotting her from afar. The fabric is very good quality and my cat has no issue keeping it on. I only make her wear it when she is outside. One thing to check if your cat is outside a lot is that there are no foxtails or spike weeds stuck in the fabric. This has not been an issue but it’s good to monitor so the cat does not feel like they want to take it off due to discomfort. Would definitely recommend if birds are an issue.
