It is astonishing how accurately Liu has been able to capture that ineffable feeling that you get, if you’ve ever looked up at the night sky and wondered about the cosmos and our place in it. The scale of this story is beyond comprehension and is filled with immense grandeur, incredible ideas, mind boggling revelations, sheer terror and deep existential dread. The level of shock and awe that some sequences in these books conjure is a thing I haven’t experienced before. Review: Very Interesting Book - This is my first sci-fi novel, and I must say that watching the Netflix series *Three Body Problem* beforehand made it much easier to understand. Although the storyline in the series and the book differ slightly, having seen the show helped me visualize the scenes while reading. The book has a unique and intriguing storyline. It's definitely worth the purchase, but I recommend non-technical readers watch the series first. Otherwise, it might be challenging to grasp some of the concepts.

Amazing and mind boggling
This is first book in a three-part series. The book started quite slow and in between was a bit of drag, but once the concepts start to unfold it takes a toll on your head and you can't keep it aside. The moment there is revelation about the two particles dropped on Earth, the story changes drastically. As soon as I finished this, I immediately ordered the second book and eager to read it. A must read for any sci-fi fan.

The first priority is to guarantee the existence of the human race and their comfortable life. Everything else is secondary
I came across this book when I was listening to Tor podcast, when they were airing episode regarding sci fi nominations for Hugo's. Also reading a completely new author always excites me, and the top cherry was I got this book way too cheap on amazon. Three body problem although has same theme as the movie Independence day but it focuses more on how humans will react to such a situation. Some of the strong points of book are 1.It is set in Chinese cultural revolution background. 2.The game of three body. Some of the weaker points of book are 1.Hard to remember all the characters names. 2.Flat character development. Let me expand on strong points of the book 1.It is set in Chinese cultural revolution background. The book basically starts when the red revolution in China is at its zenith, but unfortunately the red guards have divided themselves into factions and have started infighting. As is always the case the common people are the ones who are suffering the most in such a case. The red guards are especially targeting intellectuals whom they are blaming for teaching capitalist science. Einstein is a reactionary academic authority. He would serve any master who dangled money in front of him. He even went to the American Imperialists and helped them build the atom bomb! To develop a revolutionary science, we must overthrow the black banner of capitalism represented by the theory of relativity. One of the professors of physics falls prey to this madness, and his daughter Ye Wenjie gets devastated. Although being a physicist herself she is sent by the government to work with workers who are in charge of cutting a large area of forests in order to make way for farming. She notices the senseless destruction of a very old forest and slowly starts realizing that human beings are completely destroying everything for their own selfish needs. These are the rules of the game of civilization: The first priority is to guarantee the existence of the human race and their comfortable life. Everything else is secondary. Due to her background in physics she gets deputed to a secret project called as Red coast where in the Chinese government is sending signals in outer space in order to contact any extraterrestrial life. One day by fluke she receives an signal from an extraterrestrial life, and she takes her revenge on humanity by giving away earth's co-ordinates. Ye had no desire for revenge. Back at Red Coast Base, on that morning of the transmission, she had gotten revenge against the entire human race, including those Red Guards. But she wanted to hear these murderers repent, wanted to see even a hint of the return of humanity. 2.The game of three body. We switch back to present where in a nano material researcher Wang Miao is called by police to help investigate deaths in scientific community. During the course of investigation he comes across the game Three body problem. Once he starts exploring the game we come to know how the the game is connected to contact with extraterrestrials. Although the book is an exciting read but it definitely suffers from below weak points 1.Hard to remember all the characters names. Although this can be classified as my issue alone while reading the book, but it was terribly difficult to make out all the different characters in this book as their names sound so similar to each other. 2.Flat character development. This book is definitely not a character driven book, but it is an plot driven book where in author just uses the characters at hand to forward the plot of the book. Except the character Ye Wenjie I was not able to connect to any of the characters. I am giving this book 4/5 stars and I am definitely excited to read the next book in series.

Loved the book! Kept me turning the page and finished it in two days However, I got this product at fivetwenty but on the day of delivery i could see it fell to four hundred Whoever's thinking of getting this one, get it around the four mark. No use paying more due to dynamic changes

Disappointed by reading 3 books series
Highly technical futuristic story. Don't buy it for entertainment... buy it to get amused. It is a three books series...other two are " dark forest" and " death's end" No happy ending. It seemed to me that writer had left his imagination to wander without reins. These books were endorsed by ex USA president Barak Obama and one nobel laurette ...i am sure both had not read it .

A stunning read
I loved this book, so much so that I think it's probably some of the finest science fiction I've read in some time. As I've said before, my love of the genre comes primarily from its exploration of big ideas and there are some fascinating concepts explored in this book. The most obvious of which is first contact, and although this is far from an original topic, it does have some novel nuances here. Beyond that we have the puzzle of why two protons are fired into the Solar System, and the discovery of why and how is truly fascinating. There is clearly a wealth of research and knowledge in this story. And some of it I found quite challenging, and I love that it in a book. Some of the science is so esoteric that I had to pause my reading to contemplate an idea. There is considerable depth here, that some might find off-putting, but don't let it be. This is a wonderful exploration of complex concepts and philosophy, and is all the more rewarding because of it. Of course a story isn't carried by grand ideas alone. There is a balanced cast of characters that allows for the tale to be told in a more comprehensible manner. There's also a curious transformation of the characters at play here as well. You start off with sympathies for some, and loathing for others, and their roles switch as you learn more of the truth. That in itself makes this an interesting read. The Chinese history and perspective of the story also casts a layer of fascination, and some novelty - for me at least. The circumstances of the characters lives added an attraction to the story, and here as well there were discoveries to be made. The historical and cultural differences allowed the slow (but steady) build up to have an interest that might have otherwise be lacking. Finally we come to the writing itself. It's always difficult with a translated work to determine whether the fault, or the praise is due to the original author, or the translator. For the reader I suppose it makes little difference, it is the end product that counts. The writing is quite dry which doesn't carry the emotion well, although there were a few exceptions. However this does carry the discovery in the story in a robust fashion. As I said at the beginning I loved this book. It's not perfect (but what is?), but it is an incredible read, and a must read for those who enjoy science fiction with some depth.

The Three-Body Problem 🪐🌌
This book is a mind-bending journey through science fiction! I was hooked from the first page, and I couldn't put it down until I finished it. The story is complex and thought-provoking, exploring themes of alien contact, human nature, and the nature of reality itself. The writing is beautiful and the characters are well-developed. I especially loved the way the author seamlessly blended science and fiction, creating a truly believable and immersive world. If you're looking for a challenging and rewarding science fiction read, I highly recommend The Three-Body Problem.

Nice read and the pace is even. May be slightly on heavier side of science but opens readers to vast possibilities that lies ahead for humanity.
