Historical Atlas of Asia Hardcover – January 1, 1998

A very good historical atlas for 150 pages. The book covers various empires and national developments: Turkish and other middle eastern, Persian, Indian, assorted central Asian, Chinese. Perhaps not too surprising, there are extensive discussions on China and India. There are also some short discussions of Japan, Vietnam, and the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia, Sumatra, Java, and so forth).The book covers eras from pre- written history from about 6000 BCE through the late 20th century. Most of the text discusses developments from about 500 BCE to the present or close to it (the book was published in 1998). There are numerous color maps showing the geographic rise and fall of the several empires and their evolution into 20th century nation states.
